Problem with CMP

Hi,
I am new to CMP and I am trying to create a new object and the prgram keeps crashing.

I have installed a fresh copy of Trainz 2006 followed by the SP1 as per the instructions. When I launch CMP and select File > New CMP crashes with errors. It creates a unkown object which I then have to delete.

Is there more to the setup of Trainz to make it work. I have installed Gmax and the Trainz Plug for Gmax.

Thanks
Kenneth

ok one you know that you have 2 thread that are the same goin right?
ok SP1 huh? did you follow the instryctions to the letter? oen mistake can cause you to fail with a proper install of SP1.
an unknow object on its own? it could be your object you tryed to create. this is interesting i belive there has never been anything like this before.
its most likley SP1.

I have a properly working CMP and if I click New and then cancel it creates a new kuid with a name of New Asset that is open for edit. Edit in explorer shows it only has a config.txt file. The config.txt has 2 lines:
kuid <kuid number>
kind "unknown"

Sorry

I tried to insert the screen shots but they didn't work. If anybody would like to see them please tell me how to insert them.

Thanks
Kenneth

Right click the icon that you use to start CMP and click on properties. Click on the Compatibility tab and make sure that all the boxes are unchecked. Let us know the result.

See this thread.

ah kkeeley I see where the problem is.

Card Type : GeForce2 MX/AGP/SSE2 : Passed

That's an old videocard. Have you considered upgrading it to a newer one?

Vertex Shaders (DirectX failure) (OpenGL failure) : Warning
Pixel Shaders (DirectX failure) (OpenGL failure) : Warning
Spherical Environment Mapping (DirectX failure) : Warning

These fail because of your videocard I'm afraid.

Why change Video Card

Do I have to change the video card when the game it's self seems to work fine with the card as is. I am downloading the new version of the drivers as we speak to see if that helps.

Thanks

EDIT: I realised you were trying to run CCP, if its CMP, then Video card is your problem. Since CCP is your problem, try downloading the .Net redistribute package:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en

Without .net, CCP refuses to run as it hates running without .net, I know, because I tried it! (Fresh install of windows, didn't bother installing trainz, CMP was fine, Trainz was fine, CCP hated it.)

That's an old version of the .net framework you've linked to there - the latest is three, and any programs written in VB2005 will require at least .net v2.0

Your best bet is to go to Windows Update and find the most recent version (no link - look in your start menu).

This fixed the Problem

Right click the icon that you use to start CMP and click on properties. Click on the Compatibility tab and make sure that all the boxes are unchecked. Let us know the result.

Thanks for your help this was the problem. I would have never have thought to look at the compatibility tab, God knows how it got set to windows 95 mode. There was no need to install a new video card or update the .net framework, or any thing else that people may have thought. All I did was restore the compatibility back to defaults.

Thanks
Kenneth
