Problem with '04 & '06 content in '09

I apologise if this question has already been answered.

I have loaded numerous TRS04 & TRS06 Australian locos & rolling stock, particularly the Victorian stuff, using the instructions provided on the website.

When I start '09 I keep getting faults, with most not showing up in Railyard.

Do the original kuid builders have to make alterations before I can use these items in '09?

Any suggestions, much appreciated.

Regards,

Russell

Depends what the errors are, many can be cleared by selecting the ones with errors then opening with Pev's tga to texture tool, then committing. There should be something in the wikibook by now if not have a dig in the TRS2009 forum.

ProtoLars Not Working in TS2009

ProtoLars industries do not work in Trainz 2009, at least not for me. I’m running 2009 on my home and laptop computer and “ProtoLars Industries” will not work. BI-1 and BI-2 work just fine. Has anyone else encountered this problem and is there a fix?
All ProtoLars industries get a warning “Warning: Tag 'icon0' in the container 'industry' is obsolete.” I have edited the config file to remove the “icon0” and the warning goes away, but the industry does not work. I have spent hours trying everything I could think of to kick start ProtoLars Industries and nothing has worked
John Keenan has created this great brewery, and yet my trains are still running in a “Dry County”.:'(

Thanks John - Where might I find Pev's TGA tool? Where do I find the "wikibook"?

Russell

Thanks for the wikibook website (now bookmarked). Now, can anyone tell me where I might find Pev's TGA to texture tool, with a simple (basic) explanation of how to use it?

It might be that you are not configuring it correctly.

I've put together a little demo route called "ProtoLARS demo" and a session called "ProtoLARS demo1". Only content built into TRS2009 is used, apart from two ProtoLARS industries - "ProtoLARS IndustRail" and "ProtoLARS Aggregates". Both are on the download station, together with all the products they are configured to produce and consume.

Make sure you are running in Compatibility mode (I haven't tested it with Compatibility mode off).

Don't edit any of the files.
_____

Instructions for the sessions:

Move the container flats forward until one of them is centered between the wooden blocks. After a wait of one minute the cars will load in approximately 10 second intervals. The sequence will be - 43ft container, 20ft tank container, 40ft Logset, and 40ft container.

While the containers are loading, move the other consist forward until one of the hoppers is centered between the blocks. Again after a one minute pause they should load in sequence - coal, ballast, iron ore, and wood chips.

Move both trains forward to the unloading points at the far end of the board. The left train keeps to the left.

The trains will unload with one car centered between the blocks after a one minute pause. This time the freight cars should all unload together (well, approximately together).

The route and session can be downloaded by clicking on this link:

Perhaps you could confirm that this works for you.

Test results

Phil,
Your little test route worked flawlessly and yes, Trainz2009 is running in compatibility mode. So, I did basically the same thing, a single track with two Proto Industrial rail sights, one to load, and one to unload. Put on a loco and a set of TTX well cars, made sure all loads and unloads were compatible with cars and industry and ran the train. Nothing, not a thing happened. I even tried force loading with the product selector, and nothing.
I loaded 2 cars in ”surveyor” and spotted them to unload and, nothing happened.:'(
ProtoLars does not work and most BI and BI-2 do work on my computer in TS 2009. I do get errors with BI2 food and a couple of others. All industries work as advertised in TS 2004 so I assumed, as we should never do, that it was a TS 2009 issue
Im guessing that this is not a widespread issue with TS2009 as I seem to be the only one with the problem.
Any thoughts, suggestions or prayers are welcome.

Hi John --

Hmmm. "It might be that you are not configuring it correctly."

Unfortunately it's not just a matter of choosing compatible fright cars, driving up and expecting them to load and unload.

LARS and ProtoLARS industries do need to be configured to produce and consume products. Way back in the distant past, even before Adam was a child, I prepared an illustrated tutorial on how to do this. The latest version is now part of a package that goes with my routes. Mouse click on this link to download it:

http://rapidshare.com/files/181596406/IndustRail_2_Documentation.zip

It will walk you through the process of setting up LARS, ProtoLARS and Multiple Industry New.

The other documents are maps of my latest route, IndustRail 2a, and how to drive in Cab Mode. If you do want to try a route with many interactive industries, consider IR 2a. See here for more details:

http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=34940

Please tell us if this gets you up and running.

Phil

Footnote:
Note the hopper I use in the demo. It's one of the few that uses texture replacement correctly so that it can be used with any bulk load.

I come hanging my head in shame, just slightly more humble than Rod Blagojevich. Wow, what a megalomaniac he is. :hehe:
On with my humbling and embarrassing apology: :o There is Nothing wrong with ProtoLars and nothing wrong with my computer. The same, however, cannot be said for the operator, who decided on a very consistent basis after installing TS2009, not to fill in all the blanks in ProtoLars.
The bottom line, it now works. :)
Thank Phil, sorry to be such a bother. It wasn't the sky falling, just the stock market.

Phil, I forgot, you’re not in the US. Rod Blagojevich is the impeached Governor of the state of Illinois accused of trying to sell Obama’s Senate seat. Think of the most vain and egotistical person you know and that is Blagojevich.
