Problem using Tutorial 3-Cab Driving With Electric Train in Trainz 2010

To all,

I just bought Trainz 2010, and I'm having a problem with this tutorial. It begins fine, with the train pulling into the station, loading passengers, and apparently decoupling. I get all of the instructions up to this point, which include waiting for the front of the train to pull away before engaging the engine.

However, the front of the train never pulls away, so I can't proceed with the tutorial. Another train pulls into the left platform, and the program doesn't freeze, but the train doesn't move. I've waited more than hour to see what would happen, and passengers gather at the platform, but that's it.

I tried opening the session looking at the driver's rules, and they make sense. It looks like there may be a red light down the line before the exit portal, but I can't see why and don't know how to change it if that's the problem.

Tutorial 1 and Tutorial 2 ran just fine, and I completed both.

I haven't seen other reports of this problem and was curious if anyone else noticed it (and particularly whether anyone has suggestions how to fix it).

Thanks!

Sorry to bump my own message, but I may have made a tactical error in posting it on Thanksgiving, so I'm going to try again.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

This happened to me also. I went on and completed the rest of them and came back to this one and it worked. Have no idea why.

Your in the Metro North train right? It might be because the passenger portals for the route are broken (as in AI "cant find path to selected destination") So they just sit there doing nothing.

Well, my experience was similar to Lewiscc65.

I went away from Trainz for a few days, decided to try editing the tutorial session again, added an initial command to the driver of the train that decouples just to see what would happen, and did a QuickDrive.

The train never even moved into the station, so I removed the added command (reverting it back to the baseline), tried QuickDrive again, and the tutorial worked, with the train decoupling and moving away from the station as it is supposed to do.

I then went back to the original tutorial, and it has continued to work properly.

I have no idea how I fixed it - the only thing that seemed different when I went to edit the tutorial session the second time was that I traced the signaling, and what I recalled as a red light leading to the north portal was now green. Perhaps that is what fixed itself.

Anyway, it's still a mystery, but it is working fine (although I still have to go through Tutorial 4).

Thanks to both of you for your input!

I just found this thread, since I have been having trouble with Tut 3. After the train stopped at the station I waited 2hrs and the front part did not move. After several attempts, I saved the tutorial. I then ran the saved tutorial and when it came up the front part of the train was gone and I could run the back part.
