Problem merging two routes in SP2

Hi All,

Sorry if this has been covered before, but searching didn't bring anything up, so...

Since upgrading to SP2, I can't merge two maps. Well, to be sure, I can, but what happens is that both of the maps now have all of the tile intersections cleared of texture and the elevations brought down to 0. I'm not sure what happens to cause this, but I can be sure that it did not have this behavior in SP1, at least not that I've ever been able to find.

If anyone has seen this problem before, please help, as it is stopping me from combining two maps that I really want to have run together...

Thanks,
Greg

I presume you are referring to Trainz 2006?

If so then yes, I have also experienced this problem - it occurs around the outside edges of the two merged routes possibly at intervals equal to the size of the baseboard unit (770 metres) but I never really checked that. It seemed to occur when merging two large routes or a smaller route with a very large one.

I do not know the exact cause or of a quick fix. The only solution I have found is go right around the baseboard edge and reset the heights and textures of the affected grid squares

Hi treblesum

Yes there is a merge problem in 09 SP2, exactly the one you speak of. I beleive its related to to this post

http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=33773

You could try that process before you try to merge the 2 routes. lot of mucking about but if you want it bad enough you might try it.

pware

That 06 merge problem you speak of has been fixed in 09 SP2 not more horrible dips or rises on the edge boards of merges.

Cheers

Lots
