Problem - freight going invisible?

OK, I've modified the NEC map and added some freight traffic. Except my freight trains go invisible as soon as I enter Driver. They don't disappear, they're still there as evidenced by the exhaust. The passenger trains don't seem to do this. It doesn't matter if the freights are manually placed or Portal-generated. They're there, just invisible. Doesn't seem to matter what power they have -- I've tried a number of different locos. I can SOMETIMES make them show up again in Surveyor by merging the route and session layers, but they always disappear again in Driver.

What the heck? Anybody got any ideas as to what's wrong?

Okay, you seem to be aware of the layers issue, so I'll assume that's not it. Do any of the consists happen to be carrying the "rusty rebar" as a product? That has caused other problems, but who knows the extent to which it will affect the game?

I keep hearing about that thing, is it still on the DLS? I know N3V is reluctant to remove anything once uploaded, but you would think an asset that screwed everything up would be an exception.

I'm not sure, and I haven't even looked at the product to see what is deviously wrong with it. You would imagine that it would be removed, or repaired by now, but our linear thinking patterns often do not match those of the people in charge. I know, from my work that I "imagine" the plumbers have finished tearing out the wall and fixing the leak, and the plasterers have finished patching the hole BEFORE the bosses tell me to send in the painter and floor installer, but it's often not the case!:o

Unless some car is loaded with "rusty rebar" by default, that's not it -- the cars are all empty.

You make the "layers issue" sound as if there's more to it than I'm getting. ?????

BTW, now the train won't show up in Surveyor, either, no matter what I do layer-wise.

Matt,

If the session is faulty, and the trains were placed in the session and not the route layer, they will not show up. Go into Content Manager and look for a red ! next to the session for the route. If it's there tell us what the errors are, and we can help resolve your problem.

It's still available via cm.

OK, checked the session in CMP and the only issue was a driver (not on the problem train) with a missing dependency. Edited the session to use a different driver. No effect.

Aha!

Apparently is was the pig cars. I got rid of the intermodal stuff I had in the train and it fixed the problem. Now... why would those cars cause such an issue? More investigation as to specifically what car was causing the issue is warranted...
