Prevent download of DLC

I'd like to keep one installation of TRS19 in a vanilla state - just the original installation without any additional DLC or extra add-ons. That way I can be sure that any layouts I upload to the Download Station only includes content that every user of TRS19 has on his PC.

However, every time I launch the simulation it starts downloading extra content.

Is there any way of preventing this? And of removing content that has been downloaded?

Hi Philskene
You should be able to prevent the Asset Download window from appearing by following these steps:

1) Click Start Trainz on the initial launcher screen
2) Close the asset download window
3) Click on the System Menu button on the top toolbar (the three horizontal lines button at top left)
4) Click on Settings
a5) Go to the 'General Settings' section
6) Untick the option for 'Automatically download DLC updates'.
7) Click the checkmark

This should prevent the Asset Download window from appearing. However it also may prevent it from appearing when you do want it as well (this was a known issue in TANE, not yet tried in TRS19 sorry). Turning the option off if you need to install a DLC pack should allow the asset download window to appear though.

Couldn't you create a filter that excludes Payware from the content lists in Surveyor?

But if you turn the option off the program will download all the DLC. Is that correct? If so, than it would be nice if you could select the DLC you want to download.

You can sort of by only ticking the boxes for the items you want, think there is a list on here somewhere or maybe in the beta area of what the "code numbers" belong to and don't click download all, just do one at a time, then turn off the downloads when finished.

Hint to N3V, an accessible list of what codes apply to what DLC would be handy?

It looks to be a lot more than the one I was thinking of, obviously newly created for the "Gold" Trainzers ;o)

Hi Zec --

Thanks.

The second part of the question (where it's installed) I think I can work out myself -- I'll look in both the "Program Files" and "Users" folder. I'm sure it will be in one of those. I suspect it will be the latter.

The packages are located where your data is located in the "Packages" folder.

Hi Phil
You should be able to locate the folder containing your DLC packs by following these steps:

1) You will need to locate your appdata folder. You can find the path to your appdata folder in Launcher > Trainz Settings > Install. The path will look something like C:/Users/%username%/AppData/Local/N3V Games/TANE/build xxxxxxxx
2) Shut down Trainz and ensure that tane.exe had ended (check in Task Manager no other tane.exe processes are running)
3) Navigate to the LocalData folder location from the Trainz Settings, and open the “build xxxxxxxx” folder or the folder that your install path was pointing to
4) Now open the folder called 'Packages'.

You will then see the folders for all installed DLC packs.

Damn -- it's very persistent in wanting to download DLC. I did what you suggested above. Unfortunately it didn't block the attempt to download DLC. Is there any other work round?

Thanks for the link to that wiki page in your Post #7..

Hmm -- now this is going to create a real problem in the future for routes uploaded to the Download Station. If the downloader doesn't have the relevant DLC installed ... . If you thought that missing dependencies was a problem in T:ANE and its predecessors you ain't seen nothin' yet.

You can disable any payware in CM, that way it's not available in Surveyor. List routes dependencies, disable any that say payware, then disable the route. Same with any Sessions.
