Power Outage = Route problem!

A very brief (but very effective!) power outage just shut down my pc while I was in the middle of some complex route work. The route will no longer load (Map not there) although it clearly shows both in Surveyor and in CMP.

This is in TC3 which is right up to date and worked 100% before the power went!

I have not tried the "rebuild asset data base" process yet as that is my last resort so .......... anybody know of another way of telling Surveyor to communicate with CMP?

Lesson 1 - Go and make a small investment in a power backup unit.
Lesson 2 - If you work on a route every day .... back it up somewhere every day.

Thx. Colin.

I suspect you will be "last resorting" soon.

A good (but hard) lesson to learn, hopefully you will recover with the EDR.

Personally I "version" my routes when I make any significant changes. This is a simple matter of doing a "Save As" and naming the route "routename + new version number. Once in a while I save a version to CDP as well - best done to an external device such as another PC or memory stick, they are very small files by todays standards. I also save from time time when working on the latest version, just in case!

Hope you recover the route OK.

Colin,

Sorry to hear that.... indeed, not good news :(. I would give the EDR another try just in case. (Insert fingers crossed smiley)

Cambs is cold and snowy at the moment, the North of the UK is getting it far worse (according to the TV news), but not up to Canadian standards I would guess. Trouble is that, here, we don't know how to deal with the 'white stuff'.

I know what you are going through as the same thing happened to me. Have you tried loading the "Autosave?" Your route might there minus some minor changes. One thing about re-building is that it gets better the third & fourth go around. Another thing not to do is to leave your route open un-attended, like over night, as strange things will happen.
