Possible to enter session rules with programmer's editor?

Dear Trainzers,

Is there a way to enter session rules in a programmer's editor (like
ViM) using the keyboard?

I'm asking, because I get very tired (literally: shoulders, neck, wrist)
entering them in Surveyor with the mouse or trackpad. Many of the rules
I need are also repetitive, like Check Trackside at various locations,
for which copy and paste in an editor would speed things up.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Not that I'm aware of, although if it's the exact same each time, look into creating a schedule library then use Copy Commands From.

Thank you Shane. Those repeated command sections differ only as to triggers, junctions or signals -- so it would seem that some sort of template would be handy. Is that what a schedule library provides (once made)?

If you use TS12+SP1 or later versions, you can right-click on a rule and copy-and-paste it (and its child rules). Of course, you will have to change the parameters of the copied rules, but in my opinion this is a very handy addition for session creators.

Thank you Carlo, that seems to be what I was looking for. I'm using mostly TS2 for Mac (avoiding Win 8.1 as much as possible), but there isn't much difference in running Surveyor between TS12+SP1 and TS2 for Mac.

Henk,

i think i told you when I tried the session rules change stuff and i did use copy paste everywhere i thought you used that too! Small world.
Yes copy paste speeds up things a lot and much less cumbersome typing en editing.
