Portals

I've been searching on the DLS, but I can't find any of the portals I've read about...

I'm building a NG layout with a SG interchange. I'd like to use the portals to run the SG trains out of the interchange yard and then back into the yard some time later...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Hmmm, you don't say what version of Trainz you're using but portals have been built-in to every version of Trainz for quite a while. Look under the Object panel in Surveyor rather than the Track panel. You place them on the baseboard and then connect track to them. Choose the "?" button on the object panel and then click on the portal. A dialogue box opens that allows you to program the behavior of the portal.
