Portal trouble

Ive set up my consists to appear at 2 min intervals....2 producing and 2 consuming

Trouble is they are sitting at the mouth of the producing portal and won't enter the route until the other consists have returned to the consuming portals.

I normally get the route filled with consists and cant see any obstructions as to the cause.......is there something ive not set up correctly ?

Sounds like your short of signals, a lot of them.

Thanks for the quick response Fran.....ive used this same set up before and it worked great.

Would a couple of signals at the mouth of the portal do the job ?

First signal must be at least your longest consist length + a bit away from the portal mouth. At the consuming portal/s put a signal down at the back of the portal and 1 prior to going in.
At 2 min headway slap a few down on the way round to keep them moving.
