Please help reconciling Trainz Plus purchase with TRS22 in Steam?

Hello Forum members,
I purchased a one-year subscription to Trainz Plus in August 2025. But my main Trainz TRS22 Platinum Edition installation is through Steam.
Do I have to buy ANOTHER copy of Trainz Plus through Steam? How can I link my current subscription for Trainz Plus to my existing Steam-based installation of TRS22?

You need to submit a help desk ticket for this. This issue seems to be a "feature" of buying Trainz through Steam.

Unfortunately Steam doesn't permit subscriptions purchased outside Steam to be 'activated' within Steam (or Steam versions of Trainz). As such you would need to install the Trainz Plus version from your MyTrainz account to access the Trainz Plus features.

Note that due to the way Steam works, subscriptions through Steam only apply to the Trainz Plus version in Steam as well; the TRS22 Steam version will not have the additional Trainz Plus features added as Steam doesn't permit us to do this currently.

You can, however, set the Trainz Plus version from My Trainz to your existing LocalData folder (Which contains your installed content). The location will be shown in the 'install' tab of the Trainz Settings of your TRS22 Platinum Edition; you can then set the Trainz Plus version to this location using the '...' button in the Install tab of the Trainz Settings in Trainz Plus.

@N3VSupport thank you for the prompt reply.

I'm not an expert at this and I don't want problems down the road caused by a "mixed" install. (One of the reasons I began purchasing Trainz through Steam was to keep up with the various patches and releases.) If I were willing to purchase Trainz Plus a second time through Steam and install it from within Steam, would that create a more reliable content base for the future?
