Hello,

I am using Trainz Driver Edition I believe its 06 version. I can't figure out how to load the cars or issue orders. I have held control and right clicked an order but the train just sits there. I have tried a drive to command and the only one that is available is some airport? How do i play the game and load unload cars if the commands don't work? I am also getting this error messsage every once in a while like a stack dump or something?? Please help me!!

Hi Greg
Have you assigned the engine a driver first?
If not the engine will not even move if it has no driver.
Don't give up yet we can all help you out and will do so until you get hooked on trainz like the rest of us.:)

I'm not familiar with Trainz Driver Edition but assuming it's similar to TRS2006, on which it is based:

You can drive a train yourself, or you can set up one or more commands in sequence to make the train perform operations by itself.

When setting up commands, left-click and don't hold down SHIFT or CTRL - as far as I know (experts correct me please if I'm wrong).

Getting the commands right can be tricky sometimes, especially when you want a train to go by a particular route and there is a choice. Also, AI (artificial intelligence) trains can sometimes drive past red signals and then carry on as if nothing had happened.

If you're driving yourself, in some industries you need to stop for the wagons to be loaded or unloaded, while in other industries you have to keep moving but very slowly. Industries with more than one input and output have separate sections of track for each.

Industries will only load or unload appropriate types of wagons, the wagons must have the green IND tick in their icons. In addition, industries will only load or unload when it makes logical sense to. For example they will only load when they have some product available and the wagons aren't already full. The will only unload when the wagons have some product available and the industry input isn't full.

There are two driving modes, DCC which is simplest and CAB which is most realistic. In DCC press the > key to go faster forwards, < to slow down and go into reverse, and / to stop.

You can change the junctions by clicking on them. The red and green arrows indicate their directions.

Sorry if you already knew all that.

Is this a general problem, or does it only happen on one route / and maybe one specific Driver session for that route? If so, tell us which and if relevant where you were and what was happening when it failed (unless it failed completely no matter what you tried right from the start.

HTH, John

As well as Auran's IND industry system, there's also at least one alternative system called LARS. Maybe that explains it.

Well it sounds like that is the game i have the one John is talking about. I am assuming i have a driver assigned to the train as there is a picture of him? I do shift right click and get the command menu. As far as loading unloading i am still confused, I do see the green tick but what do i do to load or unload the cars then? I line them up perfectly yet they won't get loaded? I try to issue the load command it tells me to issue a drive to command first?

I think you need to read some tutorials. This is hard. Myself, I always lose interest when reading them with the result it just doesn,t sink in.(Thick skulled us murphys) Also, in most driver scenarios there are tutorial on driving and loading products. Isuggest you make a test grid and set up the multiple ind and learn from there. Lots to learn.Kiss your life goodbye

I read it but still can't figure out how to load the cars. One example is the logging one. I back the skeletons up to the logger and go through it like it says. I line it up and it still won't load them. or another is the one where i have to load the semi trailers on the flatbeds. The forklift truck just sits there. How do i load these cars!!!!!

Since you still seem to have problems, it would help if you post the names of the route and session that you're trying to run.

I agree, know the specific problem will help. You have to match the car with the industry but the cars have to be set to accept the commodity where you are. You also have to be sure the industry is set up to actually do something. Some things look very nice but when you click on them you realize they are just part of the scenery, not a functioning industry. With established sessions all this is typically taken care of but if you're running yourself on a route and making up your own trains then you've got more to consider.

Trainz Driver Edition is a Demo for TRS2006 with only driver and scenarios, sold at Target.

Cheers,

At the forestry, you should see some logs stacked up on the ground waiting to be loaded. If there aren't any there then you may have to wait while they are cut down. If none are being cut down then there's a problem.

Make sure your train has got IND log wagons.

Stop the log wagons alongside the logs on the ground, and they should be loaded onto the wagons. If you have several wagons in your train you'll need to stop several times and load a few each stop.

Keep trying. This definitely works very reliably in TRS2006 but Trainz Driver might be a little different.

Ok Here is the scenario name

Kalispell Local 1

This is what the sesson says: Drive to conkelley for loading some cars with alum for cfac alum plant.

1. Reverse loco and drive to conkelley

2. After 2 miles come to junction conkelleyindustry, enter the siding, couple to the empty consist waiting there.

3. Back up to the main track. stop when the consist clears the junction. You will get new instructions for cfac yard now.

Ok So i follow step 1, and step 2. I pull out back onto the main track pulling all of the cars that were sitting there there are several flat beds and three box cars. Once on the main track i stop well past the junction but it won't let me switch the junction no matter how far away i am from it. It says something about they are dispatch controlled. So my question is how the hell do i get that junction turned? And how do i know if this is the demo version or not? I bought it a while ago but don't remember where? How do i get the full version is that is the case. I am not into building and all that i just like ot drive and transfer cars in the rail yards.

How long have you waited? You may be waiting for another consist to come by or something...

Doesn't say anything about waiting? and what is a consist does that mean all the cars? or just the flat beds, box cars? another engine?

A consist, in North American railway terminology, is used as a noun to describe the group of rail vehicles which make up a train.

I haven't played that particular session, so I'm just guessing. Sometimes the author of the session makes you wait a minute or so until another train passes.

You say that once you hook up to the cars you pull back onto the main track....are you pulling forward onto the main track or backing out onto the main track? Once you clear the junction, you're suppose to get instructions for the next step. If you don't, then you've done something wrong. If you're pulling forward onto the main line, try backing out of the siding onto the main line.....if the siding doesn't connect to the main line on both ends, then I'm not sure why it's not working for you....if you get a dispatch only message, then the junctions are suppose to switch automatically..
