Please help: Bobbing unloader chutes

Hi. I have aT:ANE layout witha large iron ore unloader. Everything works fine: ships, when stopped correctly, open their hatches and the loading chutes come down and start loading the ship. However, they don't stay down until unloading is complete, but continue going up and down at very short intervals - even when the hatches are already closed and the ship has moved away. This probably has something to do with the script, but can any of you wise gents give me an idea on how to correct the problem? (P.S: I'm a 79 yearold pensioner whose being using Trainz since the 2004 edition, so I'm probably a bit dumb now and its probably a dumb qustion - but some help would reaallty be appreciated!.

Welcome to the forums, Grandpa Mike!

I've never used that particular asset, but if it's anything like a coal train loader, it might have to do with the speed that ship is moving past the loader. If you move too slow, it might re-trigger the chutes. Adjusting your speed might help.

Can you give us the exact name or KUID of the loader and ship?

You and Ben Dorsey (bendorsey) might want to exchange notes. I recently started writing scripts for Ben so perhaps I can help.

Is this one of your assets or an asset made by someone else? If it is on the DLS then please quote a kuid.

The interaction between industries and traincars (even if it is a ship) is a little complex and the timing of animations is problematic. If you want some scripting help, including a review of what you already have, then feel free to PM me.

But, be warned that I have a bunch of projects and not a lot of time but always willing to have a look at a problem.

Thanks but ship is static when loading. Item is one of those magnificent models by Ian Manion (Vulcan): Ore dock loader large, kuid 60238:26226:1

Its one of Ian Manion's (Vulcans) magnificent models: Ore dock loader large, kuid 60238:26226:1. (The smaller version does the same thing and his ore conveyor gantry loader also doesn't stop but continues operating long after the ship has closedd its hatches. Very strange - I have used his great models in earlier versions of Trainz with no hassles whatsoever. Would certainly appreciate some assistance but please don't go to too much trouble when you have other things to do. Regards

What is the ship kuid?

The ship asset needs to advise the period of time its animation takes so the industry script can work out which is the longer time (industy and ship/traincar).

Not the hulett unloaders - they work fine. I'm referring to the ore dock loaders, both large and small versions.

I'm using Ian's ore carrier Iron Duke (60238:26226:1) but all of his ore carriers work fine. Note that the loaders do load the ships but keep going up and down, like a bird flapping its wings, instead of going down, staying down while loading the ship then rising again when loading is complete and the ship closes its hatches and moves away.

I did a test and it works fine as it should be : Iron Duke kuid2:60238:9039:2 and the loader you've mentioned.
The small line on the ship should be in place with the flikkering green dot on the loader , when not , place a speed sign 10 km. on both sides of the green dot .
When it doesn't help try to download the I.Duke and the loader again

Thanks for all the help and suggestions, gents. The problem has been solved by Ian Manion himself, who made some script changes.
Thanks again to you all, Grandpamike
