***PlayStation Network Hacked..

Got an email from sony outlining pretty much what they said on there blog about how to check your credit score and stuff like that. However if the people were at all smart they would have not left the credit card info on there to begin with.....Nothing is 100% hack proof, there will always be the one that can do it...The unsinkable Titanic anyone?
Better to have to enter every time and have it be a PIA then have it "stolen" and possibly used.

Ugh, no offense aardvark, but what a rag. And I think National Enquirer had this story before they did; they certainly are more credible than Huffpo.

Nevertheless, you are correct to be worried. Storing credit info is a BAD idea.

No offense taken..... just used Huffxxxx because they suggested what users need to do.

As I posted.... other sources on Google....believe who you want.

I do think that N3V should remove all Credit Card info stored....

It would be bad if N3V were hacked.

Regards,

I think that I heard about this on the local television news. Fortunately, the only PlayStation that I have got is an old PlayStation One (the smaller, rounder version compared to the original PlayStation), so I am probably exempt. :p Besides, it is not even set up anywhere. :p

Regards.

My Card is on it, I have a Debit card though, but it's still a card

From what I've heard is they'll have there servers back up in the week.

i read about this earlier on another site, plus i read about someone hacking into another network. therefore, like i should have done along time ago (and probably never should have done at all) i deleted my credit card/debit card info from sites that had it stored. anyway, thanks for the info=)

Some time ago Auran WAS hacked and we lost the forum for a while. They had to use other sites such as TPR to let us know what happened. At the time they stated that Credit Card details were safe as they are not stored on the same servers/systems we use. They also upgraded there security systems but as stated here, nothing is 100% safe.

I do not use PlayStation but those who do should be very careful over the coming months with their Credit Cards. A "criminal" may not use your card for 6-12 months.

NEVER put credit card info online, NEVER.
It's all just a scam and you're never really safe. When I make purchases on line, I use the girlfriend's PayPal account. Everything else is open to hackers and the like. The credit card companies are used to it, the hackers the same. All adds up to more charges to protect your credit rating. Just a game they play and the user pays in the end. Either through lawyers to protect that credit rating or monthly fees to protect you from hackers that you pay.
All a scam no matter which way you put it.

Hi Dave,

Some games require a Credit Card, I got Final Fantasy XI Online in 2005, I couldn't play it till I got a Debit Card in late 2006 :( as it uses it for monthly fee's and to verify your age and address and says you are who you say you are, I placed an Order to DCC concepts for a NCE PowerCab, they don't use Paypal either, only credit card to do business, it would be great if everything uses Paypal including PSN, but they don't, N3V/Auran actually use Paypal as I bought a 1 year FCT in December :), JointedRail and RRMods are PayPal also :) .

Anyone who had their credit card information out there on the playstation network, it's now visible to everyone. It's better to use a psn card.

Sorry, and no offense intended.
If a program relies on monthly access to credit card information, why use it.
It's a game, not a business. I enjoy games, not enough to throw credit card info out there to be hacked.
No offense if you enjoy the game. Lack of people willing to risk problems like these may make game providers change their minds. They need us and our money, we really don't need them.
Same for the insane DRM.
An alternate view.
