Persistent bug in 2010

i have missed this thread, but i wanted to add that i also have a DEM generated route that did this when i replaced a ground texture. since that happened i have had no such occurrences of the pinpoint holes. this happened several times where i had already laid track. i originally thought it was something that happened when i moved from 09 to 10. btw one default route has holes like this but no black 'texture' on them.

The holes (or reverse spikes) are actually the result of the black holes that appear (sometimes) when you replace a texture. If you don't cover over the small black holes the spikes will appear when you save the route.

Is this related to the problem I used to have in TRS2006? A couple of times I found that all ground heights on my route had reverted to Zero and all textures had disappeared except for the first and last baseboards I had constructed. It wasn't constructed by TransDem and I think the consensus of opinion at the time was that it was caused by overuse of the "UNDO" button and (possibly) shutting the PC down by the Power Off button rather than through "Shut Down".

lewis,

The UNDO command was definitely the cause of this issue. That was solved in TS2009, but the spikes and holes now form along with missing textures along the baseboard edges where they but against each other so there are stripes of grid showing up through out the layout even in areas that never had problems before.

The spikes and holes are like mold and will randomly appear, it seems, on areas there were one repaired. Perhaps this was caused by using the fill-tool.

Just to let folks know I have same "spikes"

problem and have no clue why. I'll wait for gang to solve it. Thanks.

I remember reading something about TS09 combining the texture, shading (dark-light) and elevation data together in a compressed format.

I've got this issue with two routes that were created using displacement maps. :( I think it is connected to doing search/replacing textures. Going to raise all the bumps and avoid the feature... see what happens.
