Perplexing Portal Behavior

Driver Tom
First time experimenting with portals, I read the tutorials that have been recommended. But they didn't say anything about this.

The consist I have on the tracks at the time driver starts-up heads toward the portal to be consumed, as it should. As it reaches the portal the Loco disappears, leaving the remaining cars on the track. These cars, Loco-less, start travelling backwards.

The consists that are being generated by the portal have no Loco but are travelling forward nonetheless.

Can anyone explain this odd behavior?

No answer

I don't have an answer but have seen the problem. I had one heavy train supposed to come out of the portal....and all I got was a lone box car slowly rolling down the track. Another time I got a re-rail portal that caught a derailment....but sent the wrong consist out.

Give a -named-consist to the portal and you will get the same consist back .
If loco and cars are not the same consist you get only the first back.

There are a couple of ways of saving consists.

The easiest way to do it is:

1.Click the Train icon (the wheel icon at the bottom of the surveyor tab list)
2.Click the Consist icon (The second large icon on the tab just opened)
3.Click the Get icon (It's the first of the 4 bottom icons on that tab, just above where the advanced button appears)
4.Click on your train you have assembled.
5.A box will appear - enter a name you can remember the consist by, then click OK.

I will try and post a screenshot of the appropriate tab if I can, from my version of 09.
