Pennsylvania Railroad 1361 Rebuild Cancelled!!

No doubt the basic idea would be great. Another steam locomotive revived regardless is great. However something like he has said will never happen. And why does everything have to go to Strasburg? Strasburg isn't that great just like every other museum or company that runs steam locomotives. They have faults just like every other company around the world. Strasburg is not god, and nor is any other organization or company.

And does Strasburg really need more equipment? The yard is already crammed full, where do ya think they are going to put all this other stuff?

I personally would love to see them get that Reading Camelback that they have restored. It is a nice little yard goat.

yea jadebullet i want to see strasburg put the 1187 back in to steam and leave the reading on the tender and strasburg number plate on the smokebox.

the 1361 should be operated by norfolk sourthern if NS start up there steam program.

Norfolk Southern is a name, thus it is capitalized.

Start is plural so it should be starts.

EX:

The 1361 should be operated by the Norfolk Southern; if they ever start up there steam program again.

or

the 1361 should be operated by the Norfolk Southern if NS starts up there steam program.

Cheers,
JRT

I believe the word you are looking for is "their." Boy, he is really starting to get to all of us here.:hehe:

cheers

Norfolk Southern is a busy, major RR, that has an allready overloaded schedual of freight traffic...they have no time for, nor any interest in steam trains or excursions. The money they would make off of lame steam excursions, would tie up the 3 track mainline, and cause millions of dollars in lost freight revinue. Norfolk Southern is out of the question, and Strasburg is also not in the equation. Best forget about your precious #1361...permanently ! Let it go !

still the 1361 should be owned and operated by jerry jacobson. owner of grand trunk western 4-8-4 6325.

If you build an HO train platform...you can run anything you want, and hopefully will stop pestering the forum with your silly posts.
as a matter of fact i have a model layout with a csx gp38-2 and prr f7 with cars from fallen flag railroads like the READING COMPANY,NYC,ect.

Then do us a little favour then. Turn off your computer and go play with them for a while. You are starting to disrupt these forums again.

Please read what is typed and not what you think is typed.

1) Why should the goat get a Strasburg plate on the smokebox? It just needs to be restored to the condition that it was in, like the rest of their restored stuff.
2) NS abandoned their steam, they aren't going to get a stupid K4.
3) Yeah, isn't the guy who owns the GTW steamer the one who used to own Reading 2101? You know, the guy who claimed that the boiler was compromised for insurance purposes(the boiler is fine.) just so that he could use the money to purchase the GTW steamer? (It might be a different guy. If so my bad)
4) Learn to use proper grammar and spelling.

dpfan1, as you don't seem to know what Jerry Jacobson already personally owns, here you go:

Canadian Pacific 4-6-2 1293 (Operable)
Lake Superior & Ishpeming 2-8-0 33 (Operable)
Grand Trunk Western 4-8-4 6325 (Serviceable, requires work on the bearings)
Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 763 (Next engine in line for restoration)
Canadian National 4-6-0 1551 (Awaiting restoration, last ran 1998)
Buffalo Creek & Gauley 2-8-0 13 (Awaiting restoration, last ran 1997)
Ohio Central 0-4-0T #3 (Awaiting restoration, last steamed up 1997)
Canadian Pacific 4-6-2 1278 (Awaiting restoration)
Canadian National 2-6-0 96 (Awaiting restoration)
Wheeling & Lake Erie 0-6-0 3960 (Awaiting restoration)

In addition, Jerry owns about 20 vintage diesels, 24 passenger cars (half hevyweights and half lightweights), and a number of vintage freight cars.

This is all in addition to the roundhouse being built, which will be the first steam era roundhousebuilt in over 50 years. And when it's close to done, he plans to have it open to the public.

Suffice to say, the man and his crew have given plenty back to the steam and railroad community. There's zero need for something too big (261) or too expensive (1361) to foul up the plans

DPfan1 I must comment for if I don't I will regret it. Learn to type proper sentences then come back. We love new people but you really aren't helping yourself like typing like you are two.

Back on topic, I really hope that Altoona gets the cash for this. Steamtown is sadly fallen by the wayside and is now pretty much known as the " What NOT to do." Actually by comparison the B&O Museum and the Strasburg Railroad both has the right idea. If all else fails Altoona can put the project on the back burner and complete some cheaper projects to get a more stable cash influx from tourists and railfans alike.

What I am trying to say is Altoona needs to find a stable source of income as the B&O Museum and Strasburg have found.

One final point I must point out. The NS might claim they are busy enough as is. Well to fix that issue I say they should replace the track on the Horseshoe that they had been using as a through way. They took that track out a long time ago, back when having it was costing more to have it. Now I feel if business has picked up so much as they say then having that extra track would help a lot.

Sorry if some of what I say seems ludicrous. I'm only seventeen and I wrote this post on a whim without any forethought to how it might actually work.
