Peaks in Content Manager

I started a topic yesterday, about wether I will be able to use a Trainz Classics 3 add-on in Trainz: A New Era. Well, right after I posted that topic, I saw that you needed to have TC3 to use the locomotive, which is a BR Class 45 Peak loco, on www.trainzclassics.co.uk :hehe: . The question is, if I buy TC3, and download the loco, will content manager let me use the loco in T2? Suppose that New Era ran just like TS12, would I be able to use the Class 45 in Trainz 12? I don't have either yet, so I can't really say myself.

If you buy the S&C pack (same content as TC3, but as an addon pack for TS09-12) from simulator central you get that peak model (and all the other additional content from the TC3 and S&C sites) as a built in, so it will definitely work in future versions of Trainz.

I don't have any Trainz version other than iPad, but plan to purchase a New Era. TC3 is half the price of the Settle and Carlisle, so I'd opt for that version, even if it may be faultier. But is there only one Content Manager for all versions of Trainz on a computer? If not, is there a way to import assets from one CM to another?

Hi

If you buy TC3 it will be very difficult to get the content working in any future version of Trainz. There were dozens of errors which took a very long time to correct when I imported it into TS2009. This is why the SnC add on was released as all the content had been corrected to work in future versions of Trainz.

Unless you are fully conversant with repairing content and have lots of time to do nothing else for a while I would advise getting the SnC add on even if it is a few dollars more.

Brian

Well, I am frequently bored, and always wishes things were broken so I could fix them :D... But what kinds of errors are these, like you say? How would one patch these?

Hi

As it's five years since I did this I'm afraid I can't remember, but it was a real pain which is why I bought the SnC add on when it came out.
