Path Rule

Vern

Trainz Maverick
The existence of the above would seem to provide a solution to the age old problem of having to work out which points to set and throwing them manually as you go, something which has always detracted the operational side of Trainz for me. However while I've found the rule in TS2010, clear instructions on how to use it seem to be lacking. The one in 2010 is also in French which, while not insurmountable, is a bit odd in a sim where the primary language is English.

So, $64k question, are there any detailed, structured instructions anywhere on how to use the Path Rule and apply it to the player train? Can it be invoked on the fly, or does all the pathing have to be determined in advance by tracing the route in Surveyor then inputting the various waypoints? Once in the cab, how do you invoke the pathing rule to set the route ahead of the train?

Sorry if some of this is basic stuff but I am actually quite excited at the prospect of getting this working and one in the eye for a certain other sim as pathing, combined with the superior route building in Surveyor, suddenly gives Trainz a definite edge.

First site blocked from work (I'll check later) but I can access the second one and that starts to make much more sense. Cheers, Mike. I should now be able to run the "Canadian" scenario in M2 without ending up down a branch line and driving through the buffers into the harbour...:o :hehe:

Second link deals with the built in Path Rule Vern, probably a good option.

You will probably find both links easier to understand than me.

They don't involve a huge spanner and loads of swearing. :hehe:

Hey young man, that's my phrase......:hehe: :p

Cheerz Mike.

I see that everyone was taken in by Erik's original post, he's a bit of a wag ya know, just like a child getting over excited about the multiplayer aspect, that the majority of us mature veterans won't be bothering with, but, the kids'll love it.

Oh, and for those who may be interested our Russian Trainzy friends have come up trumps with a new loco for RailWorks, it's just as superb as the ones they make for Trainz. The RW community are well chuffed, it's been a while since something decent was created to operate properly, and it is free.
