Patch Problems--Game Wouldn't Open

Hello out there.
A few weeks after I first started working with "Railroad Simulator" (2012) (2 1/2 or 3 months ago, I guess) and after devoting a LOT of time to it, I experienced Apparent Disaster!

Suddenly, and even though the launch window would open, the game itself (Routes button) would not. The window was a closed slit across the top of my TV screen. I re-installed the game and also downloaded the required patches several times. No go: game wouldn't open. Each time, a message on the launch window said the "build" was out of date. (My first thought was that meant the patches needed updating.) I downloaded a new Invidia graphics driver and also a new audio driver. No go. Yes, after re-installing the game and patches and then being taken back to the Launch Window, I was temporarily able to get INTO the game. However: although it played and although my saved games, etc., were still there, when I would then exit the game and try to get back "in"...it was NO GO! I repeated this process several times. A week ago I again re-installed the game but, this time, not the patches and left the game alone for a few days. Then, coming back to it, I found a patch download site and re-downloaded the patches. I tried opening the game. IT OPENED!

The game now seems trouble-free. (Fingers Crossed.) I've repeatedly gotten back "in" with no more trouble. This post has two purposes: (1) To let others know, those who might sometime experience the same problem. (2) To ask others if they, too, have ever experienced a problem with the patches "corrupting" or somehow "dropping out of the game" (whatever that's about). Hope someone has some information on this. It was scary, and I don't want to waste 1000's of hours if the game has a serious flaw in it. I appreciate your feedback. Thank you so much. Bill, (billcaboose)
