Patch 38285 to 38316

Route Builder
I’ve been working on a new route for about a year. I’m using TRS2004 to design the route, and occasionally I import it into TS2009 to try it out.

So far it has worked fine in TS2009 even after installing SP-1. However, last week I downloaded the patch 38017 to38285, and that’s when my troubles began.

I found that I was unable to load a consist in Surveyor and press ctrl-f2 to go into Driver without the program crashing. In addition, when I exited either Surveyor or Driver, TS2009 would also crash.

I loaded TS2009 on another desktop running Win XP, and on a laptop running Vista, and the problem continued to occur on both of those computers.

I’ve spent several days trying to resolve the problem, or at least find what was causing it, but to no avail.

I noticed on the Forum that other TS2009 users were having similar problems after installing the patch.

So today, I went into the TrainzDev site to see if there was any discussion regarding the above referenced problem, and I discovered a new patch: 38285 to 38316, and although it is still a beta, I decided to give it a try. I downloaded the patch, installed it, and LO & BEHOLD, no more crashes.

One of the problems that this new patch corrected is: It is no longer possible to place more than one World Origin.

This new route is very large. I had to generate the terrain in three separate maps using Transdem, and then merge them to form one map, and I might have ended up with three separate World Origins, which could have been the cause of my problem.

A description of the new patch, and a download site can be found here:

I thought I would relate my situation to the Forum in case someone else is having the same problem.

Regards, Joe

I don't understand this seperation from Trainz-dev and this forum.

Why did we have to go to Trainz-dev to get SP1?

Is trainz-Dev a part of AURAN? (they have the copy right at the bottom)

Why keep it seperate? If they are supporting 09, then why the seperation?

To me, trainz-dev feels like a 3rd party content provider.

Trainz Dev is for developers (content developers, Auran's developers, etc). It is so that content creators can ask questions, make suggestions, comment of new betas, etc, without having 'end' users becoming confused by what is in there. It also has the wiki, the current equivelant of the CCG. It also allows Auran to post up beta versions of Trainz for people to test, without having average joe dowload it, and find it buggers up his Trainz install... And of course, it allows me as a content creator to post up beta's of my content and get proper feedback from fallow creators, who know what sort of feedback to give.

What it isn't meant to be is a support forum for Trainz 2009 itself. Thats basically what this forum is for. As well as for content creators to post their final products... It also isn't meant to be a generaly chat room...

EDIT: And yes, TD is part of Auran. I don't seem to remember having to go to TD for SP1. It was released in the announcements forum here. However, there was also an update for those running the latest beta, which was on TD... However, the list of changes was put onto Trainz Dev, since it is more suited for that site. I can go in, and work out if my content will work in pre SP1 or not...

Hello

The TrainzDev site is part of Auran and it is designed to support the Trainz Content Creation Community for TS2009 and also the development of TS2009.

Ahsan:)
