Painting Assets

Hi everyone. I would like to know how to paint an asset with a new body colour or to be able to change the destination sign on a train to suit my local area, in my case Devon and Cornwall UK.
I am a keen flightsimmer and have painted my own designs onto aircraft with great success and would like to be able to do this in Trainz 9 which is what I am running at the moment.
Any help with this queery would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Euphod. Many thanks for your reply.

At the moment I am interested in changing the destination sign on Silverlink 313 DMSO Kuid:51536:93133:1 and Silverlink 313 PTSO Kuid 51536:93135:1

When I paint in Flight Simulator I use FS2000 bitmap Manipulator to open the bitmap file. This programme then opens my paintng software which is Serif PhotoPlus x4.

Everything works very well with these two programmes.
