I wouldn't touch that file at all!!! Anyway, have you got the .net 1.1 framework installed?
If so, have you deleted the assets.tdx and BKU files? When you do this and you start CMP, it may take a VERY long time to reload the database, over 20 minutes has been known, so leave it well alone while its rebuilding!

Thanks - Here is what I have tried so far.

1. Uninstall/Reinstall of Dot Net 1.1
2. Removal and replacement MSVCR80.dll (As advised to do so on this board )
3. Unistall/Reinstall of Trainz 2009.

The CMP does not get as far as even loading - as soon as I click on Content from the trainz launcher I get this :

uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't help, you have to navigate to the trainz directory and delete the Assets.tdx file and in the cache directory, the assets.bku file.

When you run the trainzdiag.exe program in the bin folder of your Trainz install what does it say for OpenGL, does it get a green tick?

It's just a sugeseon but has the CMP ever worked from new, because Im wondering if you'v had a glitch in the TRS2009 download.
it might be worth re-downloading the game.

While running vista and everything so far is going aok. for me., After re-installing Vista Because SQL would not work(need it for another program)
Trainz itself is behaving it self very well.:hehe::hehe:

Seeing that CMPII is tied to OpenGL(you need it to run CMPII)
Have you tried to re-install your video drivers, looks like you've tried ewverything else.

I wish I could , and when David first posted in the 2009 support forum I gave the only suggestion I could ..... contact Auran and get Chris to look at the problem .

I've tried a complete reinstall of Vista .. stock standard bloatware, no mods at at all. I've also looked at my normal Vista install .. vLited to the max @ 550megs ( fits on CD ) no bloat , no media ... no nothing , just the absolute bare mimium required to play games .

I can't get this error for love nor money.

I know this a long shot, but I fixed software problems as a career for many years and often the big issues are shrouded by little issues. Please try this because it can't do any harm anyway:

Windows registry is notorious for causing problems seemingly unrelated to the registry itself. Run CCleaner in the normal way:

Run Cleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/
Analyze

Now run the registry cleaner (next option in menu)

Scan for issues
Fix issues

But here's the trick: many registry issues are hidden by others in front of them, so you must "scan for issues" and "fix issues" three (3) times. When backing up, just change the backup file name otherwise you'll overwrite the previous backup (they're time stamped). Three times is enough, but if you get no errors on the secod attempt, that's also enough.

Reboot the computer.

If I was doing it for you, I would be deleting Trainz first because you've made a lot of changes trying to solve the problem and it may continue to play up.

So, here's the best option:

Delete Trainz
Run CCleaner as above
Re-install Trainz

The fact that others can't replicate the problem spells R.E.G.I.S.T.R.Y in bright flashing lights.

How much pain do I have to go through with you people? You are the biggest shower of feckers I have ever had the non-pleasure of dealing with.

While your at it - train your staff to do more than cut and paste - and to actually READ (yes thats right READ) the information passed before responding. Its not rocket science.

P.S. The message "process is awaiting a response" is just a standard Windows message, not true in this case as CMP is busy and will not respond to any input until it's done.

hmmm yes and no. Decent windows programmers always make sure their programs keep their message loop going. There are various ways of doing this. To just go off processing some long, slow piece of work and ignore everything else until that is finished is the kind of mistake that novice windows programmers make. If any of my programs did that I would consider it a bug.

But I do agree you see it way too often with many applications, which just shows how much sloppy code there is out there....
