I purchased a Steam Version of Trainz12 and my wife ordered a boxed version for me as a present (long story). So, I have what I hope is a simple question and hope to avoid the fist fight of steam vs CD versions that is going on in another thread ;)

What do I need to do to load up the cd version and get all of the current content that I have on my steam version?

In loading from the CD's will it know to automatically copy or port my content over to the CD version or will I have to move/copy files? If the latter which ones do I need to address?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Just install it, preferably not in your Program Files folder, and probably better on another disk partition, like you would any other disc-based game. It will prompt you when to insert a second DVD. Then just open CMP in your NEW installation, click Files->Import Content, then point it to the Userdata\Original folder of your Steam installation. After that, import again, this time pointing to the Userdata\Local folder, and allow it to overwrite anything currently installed.

Just make sure your CD version is patched up to date first before importing anything as somethings won't work on a lower patched version.

Good point, Malc. It's usually quicker to patch a fresh install than an installation with lots of content.
