Dirty Deeds
Howdy,
I was wondering if someone could explain the term outlawed please,i was looking thru the Railpictures.net site and came across a photo of a union pacific train in a yard and the caption stated that the crew were outlawed and a csx loco was on its way to hook on to it and take it somewhere else.
I have come across this a few times and for the life of me i can't understand what it means.
Cheers Mick.

...not the "Outlaws"...

 The terms "Outlawed, Doglawed, On the Law," etc, means the crew has reached the 12 Hours Of Service allowed by the Federal Railroad Administration(FRA).

Sometimes crews can be called to continue the train, sometimes the train is "locked down" in a siding until the original crew, housed in a motel nearby, finishes the Hours Of Rest requirement & continues the train back to there home terminal.

Thanks

Thank You for that Backyard,it makes sense now,i should of thought of that.
Thanks Again.
Cheers Mick.
P.S Pretty sure we have the same sort of rule over here in Oz but not sure if they use the same term though.:) :)
