Out of Place locomotive

Klinger

The Chicago CTA guy
Meant to say this a while back, but I just got around to it

I saw a Railrunner locomotive in Denver on a BNSF freight train the other day, headed southbound along Santa Fe drive. it was the third unit on an loaded coal train heading south.

My thought was, what the hell is this doing here? But after thinking about it, does this mean its headed to its new home in New Mexico? chances are, the train was headed to the Coal plant in Colorado Springs, what will become of the locomotive from there, any idea what train it will be switched to from there? I did not catch the number, and my camera batteries were dead, so I did not get a picture (I tried)

This is not the first time I have seen an out of place unit along Santa Fe drive. I saw a Ferromex SD-70 ACe once, headed south. I saw UP 1989 along the corridor once, I have seen both CSX and NS units lashed up with BNSF and UP trains. I saw a KCS unit last week (headed south).

Anyone else seen an out of place unit running around their town? Would love to see some pictures, and hear some other stories.

I have seen many a strange loco in town and 2 hours away on the curve. The Santa fe unit...a N&W unit, union pacific units, a gulf mobile loco. The Loram rail train. a dash 8 in amtrak colors .

There are a couple of SouthWest Trains 158 running First Scotrail services (for those who dont know, SWT are down the south of England) although it's actually because FSR are leasing them now and they havent been repainted

I believe there are 2 158s in SWT and also 2 in Wessex Alphaline

here are pics of them

How's this for out of place: I saw an Ontario Northlander train in the Netherlands a while back ;) They're going to restore it as it was a former Dutch train set running the TEE "Edelweiss" line, which was sold to ON later. But seeing it in ON colours in the Netherlands was funky to say the least... lol :hehe:

Out of Place? How about this.....

How about Alaska power on the PRR mainline. Strange? Not really, the Altoona shops do rebuilt and refit other railroads locomotives.:hehe:

I miss the coal plant in Colorado Springs. I used to live near there. I would hang out at Monument valley park and watch the trains go by.

Saw an Amtrak California coach on a southbound regional once.

Dunno what the hell was going on, but there it was...

Some of these Silver and Silver and red Locos have travelled(by ship) south of the Equator- 2 fell over whilst on board and sustained heavy damage. {They have been imported by Independent Railways of Australia - Locos owned by Rail Equipment Leasing Pty Ltd - from Motive Power -thanks for a great Publication }

a common sight in my town not too many years back were a lot of 'kitbashed' rebuilds, belonging, persumably, to leasing outfits, although the sp did a lot of kitbashing itself, testbed development for concepts suited to its unique territory, but, ah, i've no pix, but these were mid to high power emd/m-k, with all the pieces, each still in color scheme of their diversity of donars.

mostly not pretty but interestingly strainge.

I was in London the other day, and I saw a class 08, a class 66 and a class 37 (albeit in a deplorable condition - surprised it was still operating).

Sorry to sat OMG_Internet, but we here in the states, have much older units soldering on for shortline railroads.
The wierdest thing i've seen was 2 UP GEs and 1 EMD(all six axle) leading a CSX train on the waterlevel route.
Cheers.
