Opinions on Baldwin 60000 reksin

I already asked them but they said that they had 2 years of work already booked so it's highly unlikely that the Baldwin 60000 will be on K&L Trainz

He's not discouraging you, but simply stating that starting with a 2-10-2 3 cylinder steam locomotive when you have no modeling experience is not the best place to start. There are steps to learning how to produce content for Trainz: Start with getting a simple cube into the game and learn how to make scenery objects like houses, cars, etc. Next move on to a basic piece of rollingstock and learn how to properly texture stuff. After that then you can try your hand at an engine, but be warned its hard to build one and steam locomotives are complex pieces of machinery. It's best to start with something smaller and much more basic before moving onto the big stuff.

and trainboi1 I don't like being discouraged to model the 60000!
As Daylightrain said, I'm not discouraging you. All I know is that when I tried to break into modelling with a steam locomotive, the result was honestly terrible, and while I've updated it over the years, the model was so poor that not one original part remains on it. I also know that when I tried my first large steam engine, it nearly caused me to give up on it because of the gargantuan task before me. Finally, I know that when I first came into contact with Trainman7616, he was trying to do a similar thing, doing a 4-8-2 as his first model, and I don't care to tell you how many times he said he was going to give up because it was too difficult...
On top of that, BLW 60000 is one-of-a-kind, unique, and obviously an engine you care a lot about. So here's an analogy: If you wanted to learn to be a mechanic, would you want your first project to be an Enzo? I certainly wouldn't...

That is still quite large and complex. I wouldn't recommend it, all that will happen is you'll start building it, realize how much work modeling actually is, and end up giving up on it. I've seen it happen many times on the forums, projects that get started but never finished because the creators ended up biting off more than they can chew.

Start with getting a simple untextured cube in the game and go from there.

alright. Illl start with a B&M R1-D 4-8-2 (image removed)
I hope it turns out great. But speaking from experience, like daylightrain restarting his GS6 and GS2 project 4 times, you may want to restart it if you are not happy with how it is coming out, or a unexpected error occurs. I hope this works out but I am not the best for giving out tips on 3d modeling.

ok. I am a noob with big ambitions. I want to create high quality 3d freeware trainz that would rival JR, K&L, RRMods, and even Auran content. here are some of the models I wish to create.

.NYC Hudsons (Both conventional and streamlined trainsets
.NYC Niagaras
.NKP S2 Berkshire
.NYC K Class 4-6-2's (including mercury variant)
.B&M R1D 4-8-2's
.GTW 4-8-4s
.UP FEF-1, FEF-2, And FEF 3
.Baldwin 60000
.Baldwin 26
.B&O S Class 2-10-2's
.American Flyer Steam Engines
.NC&STL 4-8-4s
.UP #3900 Series Challenger
.PRR K4 Pacifics
.PRR J1 2-10-4

Now i will start with the 26 but soon it will develop into the others. I should be able to get started once i know how to model a train in blender. And I know some of these are on K&L but i will try and make them like the Auran C&O berkshire

Whoa, slow down there. Making 3D steam locomotives in Trainz is NOT easy. I know countless people who have tried to do so and end up giving up. Start with something smaller, like a house, to learn basic modelling, texture-mapping, and stuff like that, then move on to basic rolling stock, then maybe simpler locomotives. The massive amount of moving parts and details on steam locomotives are tough to model, so it's better to start small and gradually increase your workload instead of jumping right in and making empty promises.

Umm... not to bust your bubble but some of the locos you mentioned have already been created.

The NYC Niagras have already been created by K&L Trainz, and they are available for a very reasonable price, especially considering the high quality of the loco.
The NKP S2 berkshire has also been created on at least three occasions that I know of. That being K&L, Ocemy(Same author as the built-in Kanawha), and Colorado71.
All the Challengers have been created sometime in the past too. ANL made the CSAs and even created the late challengers. (Not available for download, don't ask.) TrainzItalia has also created a pack of late challengers
The K4 pacifics have also been created before. K&L has created every version. (That I know of, im not a PRR expert.
The FEFs have been created before too. TrainzItalia has a freeware pack of the FEF-3s, ANL also made the FEF-2s and 3s (Not available, don't ask.) TheCowBoy was working on an FEF-1 as well. (Never released.) I am also working on the FEF series as well as no FEF-2s or FEF-1s are currently available.

There are probably other locomotives on your list that have already been created before as well. The DLS has a LOT of content available and I wouldn't be surprised if more than one of those that on mentioned is on the DLS.

As for wanting to create content that will rival JR, K&L, RRmods, Auran, and Ocemey content... Good luck with that. The content creators in those groups have been around for a long time and have used that time to effectively master model making and release their awesome content.
However, if you are wanting to learn to 3d model, I would recommend starting in the Content Creation section of the Trainz Wiki, the link(s) to which are located at the top of the forums page.

@USSc1798 we have 4 S2 Berks in Trainz, the 3 you mentioned plus Leeferrs. Ben Neal has a NYC class K on his site, wva-usa was modifying Bens 2-10-2 into a "big six" style engine with a repostioned headlight and bell. and I've been gathering resources for an NC&StL J3a 4-8-4, most likely my next big project after the GS-2.

Also the only K4 variant I can think of the K&L hasn't done was the rare one off K4 #8212 with a unique center mounted headlight in place of the keystone numberboard.

Well maybe I'll start by creating "American Flyer Trainz" which a re trainz replicas of the a.c Gilbert company's American flyer trains. Like the 4-6-2 pacific or 4-8-4 Northerns. Also MY FEFs will come with changing numberboards, removable elephant ears and mars light, a choice between single or double chimney, and both a coal and oil tender. Plus my content will be FREE. Nothing will cost money

Maybe ill try something new. I might create a site called american flyer trainz which is a site where you could download pre and postwar American Flyer Model Trains for Trainz for FREE.

Just out of sheer curiosity,

What 3d modeling program do you plan to use?
Have you had previous experience in 3d modeling?
If so, have you had any previous experience in animations?

I do apologize if any of these questions are rather personal. The only reason I am asking is that if the answers to these questions are:

1: IDK
2: No.
3: No.

Then you are most likely going to struggle to build something as complicated as a steam locomotive. Especially if you want your content to compete against content from other content creators.

There are 101 AFPW assets on the DLS, as well as Lionel ... I suggest that you create a boxcar first, then work your way up to diesels, then eventually steam locos

Jeez i am so sorry! I got a little fired up over 1 comment. Im not going to release the loco. Its personal. I just wanted to hear your thoughts but.....I got ahead of myself and started ranting! Lets just turn everything around this thread is getting deleted and the will be a new one JUST for opinions! I wont judge your opinions and ill happily answer questions. hell i might just ask K&L to create the 60000! What has all of this come to?
