OnTrack: Your Trainz Magazine! Release Thread

titanic love i will have a how-to on making beaches, for the next article.
and maybe you can do a thing on my railroad, the rio grande southwestern,?

thanks for the comments guys. I guess we did rush a little. Hopefully things will only improve after the first issue. I don't know about the other team members but I take criticism as a way to find out what needs to be improved and what should be added.

I had no issues with readability or content, but I'm not sure thanks was needed for my anal preoccupation with grammar.
I would say you guys should continue and increase the volume of information, and that's probably the hardest part.
Good show over all.

You guys did so well, I'm starting a magazine for my trainz company. Get ready to see an I&M Motive Works Insider. If you have anything you want featured or reviewed, etc. Ask for my e-mail. I'll send it to you. You guys DONT STOP! I was INSPIRED by your magazine!!!!

Come on Michael, fair's fair. The criticism heaped onto the magazine was totally negative and not one bit constructive. Sure, people are being a little more even-handed now, but those first few posts seemed to be aimed at nothing else but bursting our bubble.

Transitguard, why shouldn't I flare up at what I see as unjustified criticism? Some people on here seem intent on burying anything with a whiff of enthusiasm about it.

Padster

Seeing as it is not Monday and therefore not a day worth complaining about, I really should ignore someone who insists on being so negative (Padster), but I've got a right to defend my opinion...and as such I must reply that nothing improves without being criticized. Thanks to all of you (the rest of the magazine staff) for realizing that criticism is a good thing and will help your magazine get better than it is already. I look forward to future issues.

You know what? Certain people on here seem to be just itching for a fight and I am getting sick of it. Surely I am entitled to defend my opinion too?. It seems that this forum has become one giant coconut shy, i.e, good at knocking things down. However, rather than get my knickers in a twist, I have realised that getting involved on the Auran forum is not a prerequisite of purchasing Trainz. I enjoy Trainz immensely, and will continue to do so. As for getting involved with forums and magazines, I have had it.

Best wishes,
Padster

I have noticed this to,and I have had it with the forum.

There's no need to leave in such a rage. I guess I can understand why it would look like I am trying to pick a fight even though I'm not, and I agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I apologize profusely for however it may have looked on your end (all of you). I guess I'll just try not to be so helpful or try to defend the opinions of others next time... (T. Guard walks away)

On the forum you don't get the same information on context as you do in a conversation. Also there is less chance to ask questions and clarify.

It's best to relax a little and assume the best on the Trainz forum.

I think what you have interpreted as looking for a fight are in fact a series of observations and suggestions which it is felt would improve the end result. It's probably worth taking as a complement that so many people took the time to analyse the magazine. If it was thought to be not worth the effort there would be very few comments and it would simply have been ignored. As it is there have been a number of issues raised but I don't see anyone saying the content wasn't worth reading.

Cheerio John

nor any saying that it is worth reading.

Not quite those exact words but...

"It was nice to see the bit about boundary fences and walls."

"it was pretty nice for the first issue."

"it's certainly an interesting little read"

"Good first issue, thanks for your time spent, I really liked the trench loco pics"

"titanic love i will have a how-to on making beaches"

"I was INSPIRED by your magazine"

" I do like the web links back into the forum."

"Thats a nice product there. Looks good"

When is your next print deadline?

Cheerio John

I have to agree with John on this one, there was a good turn out for the first issue, and many positive comments.

Is everyone jumping boat, because one member of the team did?
Jeez........ this forum is like one of my wifes soap opera's!

I never said I was jumping the boat, nor did titaniclover.

our next issue will be out in June. There is pleanty of time for people to talk to us about writing articles, ideas, etc. Also if you have a Trainz Content Creation group and would like to place an ad pleas let me know (let me know later when we have more info on what is going into that edition. Also there will still be the Cool Community Pics section; so keep those cameras rolling :)

To the Staff of this Magazine!!:)

Just downloaded and read the Magazine. Well done guys - a pretty good effort!. I work in the Digital Print industry and Magazine printing and this is very good for a first edition.

One small point is that I think online magazines of this type do read better one page up rather than two (this is only my note from experience, please don't take it as a criticism).

I found the article on Walls and Fences interesting and I'll certainly be using Padster's tips in the future.

Well done guys, will be looking out for the next edition:)
