Only favorite routes showing in TS12?

Hi guys,

This is regarding a base install of TS12 where the only installed custom content is a route I'm working on. Initially I tried to run the route right out of the CDP to see just how many things will be missing using just built-in assets. But the route didn't show up and I assumed it was because too many things were missing. I've since downloaded its DLS dependencies but still the route won't show up. I've tried updating about 1200+ assets using the internal updater but still it doesn't show up.

Of course it has been committed.
Of coure I have tried (repeatedly) clicking the little yellow star. In fact, irregardless of whether or not the "favorite" button is activated, only the "favorited" routes show up. IIRC, there are many many more "white" routes built into TS12 and I'm not seeing any of them.

What's going on?

Regards,
Nicholas

There is not a large amount of routes in the first place in TS12 if it's a clean install.

Make sure it's the yellow star in the top left of the Routes page you are clicking though.

Yes, I am clicking on the star that you speak of. It's the only one on the screen. Strangely, the route list remains exactly the same no matter how many times I turn on or off "favorites".

That's interesting to know. One check that you can make though is to use Content Manager to search for Category:Routes and Location:Local (unless you have TS12 SP1 installed, then Location:Local becomes Installed:True).

Check if the resulting list matches what you have in-game.

Shane

TS12 comes with nine routes only.

Balezino - Mosti
Debrecen - Nyiregyhaza
ECML Kings Cross - Newcastle
Mojave Sub Division
Municipal Transit Railroad
NEC Wilmington - Philidelphia
Norfolk & Western - Appalachian Coal
Southern China
Springfield Industrial District

I can see that. Balenzino - Mosti is a built-in route and I think it's reporting missing deps because the internal updater is still in the process of downloading updated assets. Anyhoo, having missing dependencies isn't preventing it from showing up in the Routes list. From how I understand Trainz works, any route - whatever route, no matter how many things are missing, as long as the basic route file containing terrain and texture/asset position data is present, will load without fail.

That's true to a certain extent. If the route is faulty though, it will not appear in the list.

Can you show me a screenshot of your full Routes page, including the yellow/grey star in the top left corner?

Shane

That is correct only a fault will stop routes appearing or some times it will appear but won't actually load in game.

There was a very large number of updates to builtin stuff by olegkhim to this route, looks like most of what was in it. That caused missing dependencies of dependencies created by the updates until you had actually got all the updates. I as many others was not terribly happy about this massive update of a builtin route however it was olegkhims route so guess he was entitled to update for whatever reason.
You need to list the items with missing dependencies and then show dependencies, list in main window and the download them as CM is not good at pulling in dependencies of dependencies. Once you have got all his updates that should sort that problem out.

Most strange.

The previous screenshot was basically the whole screen just that I cropped out the irrelevant stuff. Here I tried a search string too, but nothing happened.

I see. Perhaps a reinstall may be needed there (backup your <trainz install folder>/UserData/ folder first).

Shane

P.S. Before trying that, do an extended database repair in Content Manager.

Did You check the trainz-build of the map ? If it's 3.7 TS12 won't show the map, and the missing dependency is hiding a possible errormessage.

Peter

I'd also suggest opening the map for edit and seeing if there is anything missing such as the config file or it's contents, something is ringing a bell here.

Try cloning your route in Content manager and seeing if it then appears in the menu?

GOOD NEWS!

I did a "view errors and warnings" on the route and it threw out a list of missing assets (as expected) but at the end, after a few seconds, popped up a never before seen message to the tune of "unknown Trainz build number". I have absolutely no idea which build number refers to which Trainz version, but the existing one in the config file was 3.6, so I tried my luck and typed in 3.5, committed and voila! It shows up in Trainz and loads fine and everything. Thank you, Peter and Malc.

Hi Shane, an EDR didn't do much, but still thank you for your time and patience.

Cheerio,
Nicholas
