oil refinery not producing

I've had a look over this site for remedies on making the oil refinery produce but nothing seems to work. I had the same problems with Trainz 2004 & 2006 and now with 2009, disappointed because otherwise this is a good title.

Things I've tried:-
added power stations
put oil refinery to produce max diesel, petrol and av gas
low consumtion of crude

Something I did think of was do I need to link the power stations to the oil refinery via cables if so which ones. Hope someone can help, please.

crude oil is full and still not producing. By the way what and were is the power station rule?

If any of the output products becomes full the refinery stops producing until you take some away. If you only need 1 product set the rest to nil production.
Forget the wires that'll make no difference.
As Tiger said no crude no production.
The power station rule is on the DLS under rules, CMP under keyword, power, then scroll down until you find it.

I tried taking av gas, petrol and diesel the green bar decreases on all three but nothing ever gets replaced, despite having full crude oil and max production.

mmm it will take some time for it to make gas after you remove gas or other
produs out

You may have the production rate set to high, drop it to 7000 per minute and see if bar rises. Give it 5 minutes then check.

Thanks it seems to be working now. Two questions though, why can't the oil refinery just produce the fuel that's not full?. Why do you need the other two fuels to also be used? frustrating!

As I said before if you dont use the other fuels set the production to the lowest level, you have to balance the production if your using more than 1 type of product. So If you find 1's producing to much either lower the production rate or send some tankers in to load then use the instant unload command. Comes in handy for getting rid of stuff you dont need.

Unwanted products

You can set the rate of production of the unwanted products to 0 and they will not be produced at all and their ques will not show up in driver mode or block production of the desired product.
