Oil Field

Hi guys,
At the moment, I'm trying to locate the built-in asset of "Oil Field" in Surveyor. However, when I search for it, it doesn't appear. (And neither is it in red in the list of objects, it simply doesn't appear). It does in CM, and reports nothing faulty, nor errors of any kind.

TS2010 lists 2 built-in 'buildings' assets called 'Oil Field': <kuid:-3:10055> and <kuid:117140:10055>. When I search in Surveyor in the 'Objects' listing, I see only one object under 'Oil Field'. It places on the map without any problems and its KUID appears on screen as <kuid:-3:10055>.

There are actually 3 oil field kuids:
Oil Field Basic,<kuid:-3:10142>
Oil Field,<kuid:-3:10055>
Oil Field,<kuid:117140:10055>
If you look at the config.txt file of Oil Field,<kuid:117140:10055> you'll see it has this tag:

privileges
{
permit-listing 0
}

which keeps if from appearing in Surveyor but will display in Driver. It was made just for Razorback Railway.

Thanks Bob.
Your answer however, brings me to another question: How do I get raw crude oil to the refinery? (i.e. what industry do I use to do that).

Use a min and configure it to produce crude, place several large tanks etc to make it look as you would like.

Thanks Bob.

Here are a few.
Oil Field clean,<kuid:240543:1129>
Oil Field Basic,<kuid:-3:10142>
Oil Field,<kuid:117140:10055>
Oil Field,<kuid:-3:10055>

You could use the industries that first appeared in 2004, the oil field and oil refinery. I would have thought they are easily available in 2010. I use them in 2009 with no problems. I use GATX tankers to transport the oil between the 2 industries which can be refined into Diesel, petrol and aviation fuel if you desire. It is also possible to create your own industries by using the fuel multi loaders and adding fuel tanks, fencing, road vehicles and anything else that appeals to you.:wave:

Well done Shane for explaining MIN, I thought he meant a Mine but had missed the e off and was then trying to figure out how the heck you get a mine to work and look like an oil field. :o

I use MINs quite a bit on my layout.

Another trick is to make use of the different queues available within the MIN properties - there seems to be a limit to how much items you can have on a single queue.

Thanks for the help guys.

Just a side note: If you want a lumber mill, you'll have to use a MIN, as there's no dedicated asset which functions solely as a lumber mill (that is, taking raw logs and turning them into planks). And no, I'm not talking about the Hyde Pulp Mill asset, I'm aware of what that does.

Re hyde mill, you could allways set woodchip consumption at 0 if you only want lumber.
