Objects scale

Seeing as how I'm stuck at work, let me pose this before I jump into stuff this evening. I'm modeling my future garden railroad (G scale). So far i've got the track plan in and landscape (Mountains) built up.

I want to add the "real-life" fence runing down the side of the property. However, I'm pretty sure that if I just pick a fence from 2010 and drop it in, it'll show up as 1.5" instead of 3', with the posts on 5" centers instead of 10'. From what I understand, selecting the scale at the beginning of the route creation simply sets the rulers, correct? If I want a object to be "real-life" scale, I need to either create my own, or somehow otherwise rescale it outside of Trainz before importing it. Correct?

ps - so far the exercise has been very beneficial...I've already re-routed some double-track lines that I would have sworn were cast in stone over the last dozen or so autocad layout versions I've done, LOL!

Correct, scale only sets the ruler and possibly the altitude, and units (metric/imperial) only sets the ruler but not the altitude.

Correct on all counts I'm afraid! (except that you can't rescale an object outside of Trainz unless you have the original mash).

You might just find some object on the DLS that does what you want or you could try raising the ground level where the fence is very steeply. Both would just give you a representation though.

A word of "warning" - I first got Trainz with the idea of using it as a test bed for my own G scale garden railway. I have not done any work on the garden railway for 2 years, too busy with Trainz.......

Cheers
