Objects on session layer can't merge

For some reason I have some objects on the session layer, when I try to merge into route layer a progress box pops up and nothing happens. I also have some layers in the top box (below route layer) that I have used for detailing and I am unable to merge them into the route layer. Nothing is locked. I also get an error when trying to paste trees in a certain area of my route stating that there are objects in hidden layer()?

My first question is how long did you wait while watching the progress bar before clicking the Cancel option? The merge process, for some unknown reason, can take several minutes.

My first piece of advice is to check the Train Wiki page at https://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/How_to_Use_Layers#Merging_Layers particularly the section on Hiding Layers.
It seemed like quite a while but I wasn't expecting it to take longer than it did in TANE, so I immediately thought something was wrong and cancelled. I was able to merge all layers down, with some warnings akin to trackside objects and the track they are attached to. I also finally fixed my tree issue. I had a percentage of them on "route-layer" but also bound to "route-layer". I'm unsure of how this happened but I was able to fix it by doing a bulk asset replacement (but using the same asset) to move them to a new layer. Thanks for the help, as always!

I had the same initial reaction. Deleting, merging and moving layers in TRS19 now creates an opportunity to make a cup of coffee or tea. I don't know what is going on "under the hood" but I suppose/hope it is to avoid other "issues" from cropping up.
