I have downloaded and installed this engine. It had 4 missing or unknown dependencies (kuids) which were found and installed in CMP. When opened in CMP all dependencies now show "0", for missing, faulty, broken, etc. yet this locomotive while listed, does not appear in my Railyard when high lighted, only the tender appears. Any suggestions to make this locomotive "appear" will be appreciated.

Hello,

What is the kuid of the asset in question? Was it downloaded off the DLS or some other site? Could you check the config.txt to see if there is a reference to an Alias? What version of Trainz are you attempting to run this on?

I have seen an increasing number of items which display this same behaviour. Some has / have been caused by the above mentioned Alias not being found while others have been a result of content created with the newer releases of the Trainz exporters. The exporter I use on 3dsMax produces this behaviour on 2004 and 2006 but is OK in TC3 and 2009 native.

One other source of problems I have encountered is items in 2009 which use the pantograph key to perform some function such as an animated bell or to activated interior lighting. This has not been an issue for me in any other version of trainz or in 09 compatability mode - only in 09 native mode!

If you can provide the kuid and platform, I can try to download the asset and test for you.

Thanks Bricey: Sorry I forgot to mention the platform. It is 2006. The KUID for the NYC & HR 4-4-0 #999 is 267178:1409 from the DLS. The missing dependencies were found on the steammachine.com website, downloaded and committed. When I opened the file for edit I do not recall seeing any reference to an alias. This loco was originally created for Trainz 2004.

Thank you for your time and trouble. Now I have to get back to the first game of the Stanley Cup finals.

I just downloaded it again and it works perfectly, altho the cab is sort of flaky. Do you have all the dependencies?

Just downloaded it into 2006 and it works fine for me as well. Check your dependencies and let us know how they look

Thank you gentlemen. I checked and found that I did in fact have all of the listed dependencies. However, I also found that two of them did not indicate being opened for edit. Apparently I was not careful enough when applying "select all" prior to committing them. I reselected, recommitted and guess what? There was old #999 steaming beautifully in great and abundant detail. I can't wait to put her on the track and steam off with a suitable consist.
I am beginning to think 90% of the problems with Trainz is due to human error (like mine) or insufficient knowledge of the program.
Thanks again for forcing me to do the obvious.

Better think about that a bit longer.

As to the "Open for Edit", you can set your CMP to Commit all Open Assets upon game start up. This prevents those forgetful moments from turning into higher drama.

Can second that motion from recent experience!
That old 'start from the bottom of the ladder' thing with program experience sure is exasperating at times.
Very thankful for assistance from all the trainznutz on here.

Now, off to fix my own No.999!

p.s. anyone know of another version than the weathered one?
Like fresh out of the shop shiny?
