NVidia GeForce GTX 580 Driver question

I am running Trainz on Windows 7 64 bit using an NVidia GeForce GTX 580 video card. It has been working fine using the driver 266.58. Recently I updated to a more recent driver, 301.42, and Trainz now crashes after about 10 to 15 minutes into running a session. When I revert back to old driver things are fine. It seems that every driver version more recent then 266.58 causes these crash problems.

Any ideas what may be happening here? What driver versions are othe people using with this video card? Maybe I should just stick with the version of the driver that works and be content.

I had the same problem (several times) yesterday and blamed the drivers. Re installed the 266 version.
However today on starting saved session 24 ( a different 24 one to yesterday) it crashed again. I've now re started session 23 and everything is fine (same as yesterday).
We'll see what happens when I start saved session 24 tomorrow.
Didn't get to far, crashed after 2.5 hours. Back to the drawing board:confused:.

I have just rebuilt my PC with two new SSD 240 GB in RAID0, subsequently added W7 64bit and updated all drivers including GTX580 to 301.42, no problems

Hi Paul,
301.42 for me is doing the job no freezes no crashes but once in a while an update can cause havoc for unknown reasons. i had 2 weeks ago many freezwes even outside trainz and thought it wqas one kind of a driver and started blaming windows updates (check that too) and yes when going back in time a lot no freezes and soon enought close to recent win 7 64b updates it started freez the system again.
I cleaned the SSD disc which I also thought had glitches lucky not true and reinstalled WIN7 and see until now (2 weeks) running normal again.
Crashes can have many reasons also within trainz possible routes faulty freez sorts off

hope this helps

Roy

Thanks for all the responses. I think I will stick with the old driver. It certainly works well. My system keeps bugging me that there is an updated driver available, which I will continue to ignore.
