NSW train compositions

Attention all NSW rail buffs.

Sorry to keep bothering you good people, but i am in need of assistance. I was wondering if anybody could tell me where i may be able to track down timetables, ect for the Hay branchline, as far as Griffith? I am looking for these documents to enable me to create a few realistic consists for this line, as well as trying my hand at a few sessions. What i am after is something similar that was done for a few msts routes, which for the life me i cannot remember the location of.

As always, your assistance is greatly appreciated.

I think the place to start looking would be anywhere but here, but I could be wrong. Why don't you try the ARHS NSW Branch, or even contact their bookshop. I was in the bookshop on Central Station a couple of months ago and it's massive. The Society keeps all this kind of stuff in their archives, which are accessible to members.

Another great resource is Australian Rail Page which has a very active forum.

I'm sure you will find what you want at either sites.

Johnk, thanks for a speedy reply. It did not occur to me to try the ARHS (stupid, i know!) however will give them a try in the morning. I came to the forums first because you people are so very helpful, both to me and others. I will also try the railpage forum, as you suggested, and i'm sure a little research won't hurt me, if i have to resort to that.

On a related note, the route i am currently working on is made up of the Hay 1,2,3 modules + Leeton and Leeton to Griffith modules by Pgibbons. Could someone please Inform me of what year/s these modules represent?

Wikipedia has some links you may wish to follow. Make sure you click the Griffith link in the map on the right.

You can also enter hay griffith nsw railway into Google Images for some nice reference photos.

When research stuff like this, the trick is to take a serious look at the links on pages Google and Yahoo cough up in their search results. Both search engines base their rankings on links and backlinks with worthwhile content. I have often found stuff by following one link after another. Sometimes I can spend several hours, or even days looking for something this way. Always say to yourself "I'm not the only one interested in this." It's just up to you to find the other person or people who have what you want. If you haven't already done so, take a look at the Trainz Resources Directory to see where research can lead you.

The various routes which together run from Junee to Griffith are not based on any particular period. I based the track layouts on plans provided by derico (Trainz member) and tried to build the rail infrastructure to represent the peak period of rail usage for the town etc - this was usually during the period 1930-1970 roughly. (before the govt started to close things down!).
Signals and speed signs may also not be strictly according to real world either as Ive tried to set them up for AI operation which in most cases seems to work.
I ve also included the odd passing loop in places which also may not be real but helps AI to avoid the deadly impasse.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. johnk i will try my hand at some research of my own, the links you provided should get me started. Pgibbons you answered a question that was in the back of my mind, that being why the mainline does not appear to be signaled, with signals only appearing at station yards and loops.

ATTN Mod/Admins: I know it's MSTS, but he wants train compositions examples

NOTE to Mods/Admins: I know the following link is for MSTS, but he want's the train compositions, and is still very useful for any train simulator.

With these documents, you can't do a find, but you should be able compositions for most of the lines.

If Trainz hasn't got the exact carriage you need, just replace it with the nearest possible.

Hi Red_Rattler , just got your reply. Sorry to take so long to reply. The link you provided was just what i was looking for. Thank you for that, it's much appreciated. Now i just have to find what carriages i need on the DLS, and so far i am having no trouble. If i do you can expect to hear back from me again.

Hay Branch

The section of this branch line from Junee to the junction at Yanco is part of the Hay branch which continues on for another 100K approx from Yanco to Hay. Thus these routes were names as part of the Hay branch.

The missing section may one day be built for Trainz.
