Stop giving me a reason to stockpile JR NS and Conrail content! I got enough UP and BNSF from you guys! Thanks for sharing the shots, those are awesome...:udrool::hehe:
You can NEVER have too much Conrail and NS content!!!!![]()
Maverick,
Thanks for your comments! The track you are talking about is track one. And is the one that runs through the new portage tunnel and down the slide in Gallitzin. Your right, for the majority of the 40miles from altoona to Johnstown it runs apart from the other two mains with the exception of some interlocking. During Pennsylvania RR days there was 4 tracks up the grade, however contrail ripped this track up in 1981. It's now used as an Access road as most of the time the track is difficult to get to. it could have to do with the fact that it was too expensive to maintain 4 tracks during the bleak time of penn central and the cost of expanding 2 tunnels to accommodate double stacks rather then just the one
Hmmm, thats an interesting one.. not sure its as exciting as some of the other schemes though.. whats the history behind the Fallen flag? Ive never heard of this road...
