@GTW1226 - Woah, that's one bright loco! I think I have flash burn now! :hehe:

@Scratchy - I can't wait for this route! One quick question; That third track that is about 5 or so feet from the two track's and is almost in all of your screenshot's, what is that for? I have always assumed it was a third track or something rather. Great shots Scratch, really loving the detail.

Maverick,
Thanks for your comments! The track you are talking about is track one. And is the one that runs through the new portage tunnel and down the slide in Gallitzin. Your right, for the majority of the 40miles from altoona to Johnstown it runs apart from the other two mains with the exception of some interlocking. During Pennsylvania RR days there was 4 tracks up the grade, however contrail ripped this track up in 1981. It's now used as an Access road as most of the time the track is difficult to get to. it could have to do with the fact that it was too expensive to maintain 4 tracks during the bleak time of penn central and the cost of expanding 2 tunnels to accommodate double stacks rather then just the one

scratchy,

Are those the new position light signals from Jointed Rail that haven't been released yet or are they from somewhere else.

Thanks for the history lesson, I got it now:hehe:. I think I'm up to date on the NS Pittsburgh Line. I really need to get out to the East Coast and check things out! Looking forward to the completion of this route.

Hmmm, thats an interesting one.. not sure its as exciting as some of the other schemes though.. whats the history behind the Fallen flag? Ive never heard of this road...

P.S yesterday was the final day that ALTO tower was in operation, the tower has been decommissioned after the remodelling of that area and the new interlockings opened a bit further up the tracks.

PPS-randomly found this guys photostream, i love urban decay, so interesting. Thought it was worth a share; http://www.flickr.com/photos/snapsi42/page29/

This and the Penn Central one are the ones I have been waiting for. (Fortunately for me, Conrail was first out the door). MGA was just a hard working coal hauling line. No flashy paint jobs for them! They were "independent" but jointly controlled by PRR, P&LE, and B&O. Another one of my Mon Valley lines.

Here they are and what they did: Thanks to Wikipedia.
