Not Getting Content Manager

Trainz Luvr since 2004
Sorry but I'm not getting CM v2.0. I've read the entire help file but I still have a lot of unanswered questions. I've always used TRS2004 and it never used CM.

Do I have to use CM now to download new content? Can't I just download from the download station site. What's up with all the tabs? The help file says these are filters but I don't see the value in them or really understand each tab.

What is the "locally modified" tab for? What about the "download station" tab? Does choosing this tab generate a list of everything on the DLS?

Does anyone know of any additional tutorials or instructions on CM v2.0?

Dricketts, yes the Down load station is for DLing. Right click on a asset you want to DL scroll to the top click download the download station will open click on start when it is idle,it has to search for any dependences that asset need and will DL them too. Add as many as you want as long as you have a first class ticket if not you can only DL 100 MBs a day.
The search window is the best thing you can search by name, category, author, kuid #,and so on.play with it see what you can find.

Content manager does look a bit daunting when you first see it, and at first glance it does not seem as easy as TRS2004. It provides everything you need to handle Trainz content and it is better than the old ways.

One question you are almost bound to ask 'What do I do with the Local folder?' The answer is 'Nothing', that is off-limits for editing content. To edit content 'Open for Edit in Explorer' is designed for that. Don't try editing content in CCP, that is intended for new content only.

It is a pity that you went for TS2009, the Content Manager in TS2010 is more versatile in the search functions.

One thing that may not be obvious is that CM supports 'drag and drop'. Your content in TRS2004 can be dragged into the main CM window, do it in batches. Sequence is 'Select in Dispatcher-Drag-Drop-Select in CM Main window-Commit'
