For a grocery chain they come up with some interesting pc and other offers. I noted their latest PC offering is a Medion Multimedia AKOYA P7300D. Intel Core Dual Proc Q8 200. Has 4GB DDR2 ram, 1,000GB Hard Drive, NVIDIA Geforce 9600GT. It has Nero, etc, keyboard. No moniotr and priced at £487. Sounds like a good machine for trainz if anyone is thinking of a change??

If anyone has taken the plunge I would be interested in a report.
I would like a vacuum cleaner for Xmas but my wife wants me to have another (3rd) PC:eek::eek:

Hi,

Just got one this morning. Had to queue to get it. I was lucky enough to get the last one from my local ALDI.

Have,nt opened the box yet, so cannot comment.:)

Cheers, John

When you buy a computer from Aldi you are certain to get a great computer for a lot price. But: be aware of extremely bad customer support. I hope you know something about computers, because if there's something wrong with it you're on your own. If you're not good with hardware I would advise you to go to a normal computer shop and pay a little bit extra for a lot more support.

Hi
I bought one of these computers from Aldi some time ago.
I had it 3 months and the motherboard died. I phoned the helpline number and the next day a carrier arrived to take it away for repair.
I got it back 2 days later fixed.

so I'm not complaining :D

cheers
Roy.

BTW I have no connection with Aldi or Medion.

Hi all, I come from the macworld where its all easy shiny & happy! After waiting for Aurans promised Mac version of trainz that never materialised! I decided to buy one of those adli intel quad core 2.4gh - 500mb hard disk , 3gb of ram machines for 600 euro a few months ago for trainz, gotta say it runs trainz great, i run a large very detailed layout no problem. bit p'd the new one has a better video card (geforce 9500gt instead of gs), larger hard disk etc, of course it goes without saying i'd never recommend a Pc over a mac, but this pc works well for trainz & the added bonus of HDMI connectivity for most multimedia needs!

not bad from Aldi

With regards to the threads on the PC from Aldi it looks good but unfortunately I cannot find a local Aldi even the web does not give a site so I will it seems carry on with my old machine and look for a top range Laptop instead.

Hi,

Did,nt reply earlier bcause I,m still really trying to get my head around Vista.:)

I hav,nt got TR2009 yet but it runs 2006 like a dream.

Regarding after sales service. I have bought two previous computers from ALDI, one is now 2 years old and the other 3 years. I have never had one problem with either machine (touch wood - fingers crossed etc etc)

I have had Medion LCD monitors from them however and every time a fault developed a new monitor was delivered to my door within 5 days.

Considering they all carry a three year warranty, where-else can you get this type of service.

Cheers, John

I don't live in the UK, but I can say that Medion computers have a pretty good reputation here, and that the specifications of that thing are pretty nice for ANY prebuilt computer, even for that price. I also hear that you guys in the UK have more expensive computer stuff--so that is most likely a WONDERFUL deal.

May I ask how you got a wife who would rather have a computer than a vacuum?
