Noob requesting help

Hi all,
I am new to Trainz and I recently purchased TS2010 EE. What I am looking for are suggestions on where and how to start in creating models. I have looked for tutorials and find finished models, but little discussion on what it takes to make them.

I am particularly interested in the old V&T 4-4-0.

My home system is Pentium 5 running Windows XP Pro.

Thanks ahead of time.

btw, ignore my join date. I have an old copy of ts2004, but did not do much with it. So I am very much a noob here.

Check the DLS or Subpar Productions. They have V&T 4-4-0's (good ones. too!), plus rolling stock & structures. A layout is also in the works.

Routes are easy ... just start laying track.

Re-skinning freightcars is somewhat easy to learn.

Re-skinning locos is a lot harder.

Making a railcar from scratch and learning how to configure it, and how to import it, will take you weeks.

Animating a loco will take you months to a year.

That is, unless you are allready a CAD/CAM expert, and have thorough knowlege allready, of Blender & GMax creating, then it would be a lot less complex.

Creating a cube, and importing it into Trainz is a first task ... then putting wheels on a simple cube and importing it is secondary ... then animating objects is lastly.

That will guide you through making a house and putting it the track. Rolling stock isn't that bad you just have to reuse someone else's bogies.

The drop out rate is high on building steam locos first off so I prefer you to start with scenery objects that way I get something for the DLS first before you give up and the learning curve isn't quite so steep as you have less to sort out at each stage.

Thanks all,

I really appreciate it. For me, I kinda need to break things down into pieces then build them up. Otherwise, I just stare at the monitor wondering what to do first, lol.
