No Tutorials in TRAINZ 2010 EE

Hi.

I just bought Trainz 2010 Engineers Edition (Digital Download). It's a great game/simulation. I'm having a bit of fun learning as I go. Tutorials would be handy, especially in CAB Mode.

In the manual it says:
4 - TUTORIALS
In TS2010 we have added a separate module for Tutorials.
This module features 4 introductory tutorials, each focused
on a different aspect of train operation in the Driver system.
The 4 tutorials in order are:
Tutorial 1 – Basic DCC Controls
Tutorial 2 – Advanced DCC Controls
Tutorial 3 – Basic CAB Controls
Tutorial 4 – Advance CAB Controls
When I click on the Tutorials box in the main menu, it opens, but it is empty. There are no tutorials in there.

How do I find them? Do I need to download them and add them myself?

Thanks in advance.

Mark

I have exactly the same problem, someone told me to look in the manual but the manual tells me to look in the menu, but it's indeed empty.

Open CM3.3 and check to see if you have these kuids and they don't have any errors:
Tutorial 1 - Introduction,<kuid:447264:1021>
Tutorial 3 - Cab mode driving with Electric Train,<kuid:447264:1022>
Tutorial 2 - Driving in DCC mode,<kuid:447264:1037>
Tutorial 4 - Cab mode driving with Diesel Locomotive,<kuid:447264:1040>

Hi Bob.

Where do I find CM3.3? When/if I find it, what do I use to open it?

If it is supposed to be in my TS2010 folder (where I installed TS2010), I searched for it there, but the file was not found.

Mark

EDIT: Ignore this question. I found it. It's Content Manager 3.3!

Hi again.

I looked through the CM 3.3 and found what you told me to. They are there and the KUID's match what you listed. I'm not entirely sure that I actually have them or if I need to download them.

Here is an image of what I found:
TS2010-Tuts.jpg

What does the symbol on the left (it looks like an open laptop) mean? I click on the HELP question mark (top right of image) and it opens a web page that has virtually no content and everything is Red Text with no info. It's useless in it's current state.

The built-in library of TS2010 (44088) is totally screwed up and doesn't come with all built-in kuids, which generates a lot of missing dependencies. In my case, I think I wasn't able to download a single add-on track, because of missing kuids, missing dependencies and it looks like the build is just plain broken.

Open a ticket and hope that they'll fix it at some point. This particular build is just unplayable.

Hey Guys,

Can you please let me know what build number your install is? You can check by opening the launcher and quoting the number in the bottom right corner.

It also may be worth doing an Extended Database repair in Content Manager (under the file drop down menu). Can you please let me know if you see the tutorial menu in game, or if its just the tutorials themselves that are missing.

What does the symbol on the left (it looks like an open laptop) mean?
That symbol means the asset is kept locally (as opposed to on the download station, in an archive or in an unknown location). As it is also yellow, that means it's included in the built in content set. If its grey, it's still local, but you've added it somehow (i.e. Downloaded or installed via .CDP).

Mine is Trainz Simulator 2010 - Build 44088 according to my Trainz launcher.

Thanks for the explanation on the symbol. :D

I have the same problem as well!

Missing Tutorials

Same problem and ended up here after a Google search. It's a little annoying when you pay money, download the program, and the first thing you try is broken. Bah humbug!

I have build 43361 and had the tutorials. I actually played all of them but for some reason after using the Content Manager to do a Database Repair yesterday, they disappeared from the menu.

I totally agree! I am not computer savy so when I paid for this program and it didnt work for crap, I was very disappointed. I know that I am not doing MANY things to correct the problems but given that I paid $50 for this simulator, I EXPECTED that it would work right out of the gates.

I downloaded "Rule The Rails" paying $20 and have NO PROBLEMS!! I acknowledge that Trainz2010 is much more complex but still, I did not foresee so many problems running the program that I paid more than twice as much for.

Tell me how to fix the problems so that I can run the program as advertised! PERIOD!! If I could get my money back I surely would at this point! Seeing that I cant, I will continue to do what I can to make the program work. I will however, consider very carefully purchasing another simulator of this kind from www.auran.com

I'm also getting annoyed, I bought the game a few days ago and the amount of problems are enormous and I've been trying all my spare time to fix them. It's not freeware.

EDIT: that's not entirely true, I do have a lot of fun with it and I do love it but it's already becoming a bit love / hate.

I bought the game yesterday and I'm experiencing the same problem.

Wanted to get the hang of it by doing the tutorials but as of now it seems impossible to ever understand the game.

I've got 2 'tutorial' icons in the main menu but when I click either one of them I get an empty list.

Any help in solving this matter will be much appreciated.

I submitted a ticket, as I said earlier, and today I got a response. I have to log in to my account, go to my order history and re-download all 5 files.

Below is a copy of the email from Zec.

Good Afternoon Mark

We recently updated the TS2010 installer files on our website to include the latest update for TS2010. Unfortunately, yesterday, we discovered that the installer was not installing TS2010 correctly. We have now fixed the installer, however you will need to re-download the files again and re-install TS2010.

You can access the downloads by going into your order history, which can be found here: https://www.auran.com/planetauran/Order_History.php
Once on the order history page, click on the order number that matches the digital download purchase. On the order page, you will find a download link, click on this. This will take you to the download page, where you will find two download links. Please try using the top download link first.

We do recommend that digital downloads be downloaded using a download manager such as http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/
I am in the process of doing this now.

Hope this helps.

Mark

Well with all the stuff I've been downloading I'm not gonna bother. And those tutorials are the least of my concern really.
