No sound!

A few weeks ago I turned the volume on Trainz all the way down so that I could listen to music while I was building a new layout. Today, I went and turned the volume back on Trainz, but I have no sound at all. Any ideas? Sound still works if I play music, but getting tired of "The Orange Blossom Special"! :-)

I've had that in TANE but intermittently, not had any issue with TRS9 upwards, all I can suggest is just in case, check that the Volume mixer hasn't been turned down or muted for Trainz, needs Trainz to be running to see the volume settings for it in the mixer.

Are you running the latest Plus beta? Did you update since you last had sound up? Try turning off "Enable 3D sound effects" in the "in game" Sound Settings if it's on.

Found the problem. I use a USB sound adapter because my on-board sound was kinda crappy. For some reason, evidently a WIN update didn't like where I had my speakers plugged in the USB sound card. They were plugged in where they should have been, but they wouldn't work there. However, in Linux they worked fine. Plugging the speakers into a different output allowed them to work in WIN finally. And they still work in Linux. Goota love WIN.

Thanks to those who answered!!!

Yes win updates and USB, last one here messed up my external USB drive letters by swapping them around which was a bit confusing until I'd twigged what had happened.

Oh, I ran into that too, Malc. That confused my Oyen box.

There is another thing to watch out for with audio devices. Sometimes if there's a video card update, the audio devices will default to that if your card supports audio. Since my displays don't have that capability, I've been left with no sound and ended up checking connections and found that the playback device was pointing to my Dell display.
