No Path To Selected Destination????

Can someone tell me what [No Path To Selected Destination] means and how to fix the problem?

Thanks for the help

It means that the AI cant plot a way to where ever you told them. This usally means that there is either:

A) A track spline or something isnt connected so the route cant be plan.

or

B) There is no crossover or no way to get to location given the current track the AI is on.

A missing point lever or switch could also be the problem. If you are having difficulty finding the cause the method I use is to place a series of track markers along the route you wish your train to go and call them test 1, test 2 etc! next instruct your AI driver to drive to the furthest. If it won't go try the next nearest and so on until it moves. This will narrow your search area.

I have found after laying a length of track with several spline points the points look as if they are connected but in some cases there is a break. I now click on the move button and then go back over the track and single click on each spline point. This then automatically connects any break in the track and hopefully gives you the required through route route to your destination.

It is also very easy to accidentally delete a point lever or move one too far from its junction when altering track layouts.

Similarly, point levers can be deleted if you copy and paste scenery over an area of track.

If you alter track layouts by removing spurs from the running line, be careful to delete the point lever at the same time. An orphan point lever will also throw a "no path to destination" message.
