no diamond crossings?

I've been unable to find any diamond crossings.
I also read in the TRS2006 manual, that "TRS2006 signals are not capable of detecting a train crossing a block via a diamond crossing" :o

Unless one has room for an elaborate system of bridges etc (which I don't), how on earth is one to get tracks to cross??? When you're running double tracks (2 way line), you are gonna have to cross them sometime!

I've seen in "outback australia" tracks just laid across one another. What are you supposed to do with that? Sneak up on it carefully and stick you head out the window to check for traffic??

I've only seen so many routes as yet, and haven't seen any "real crossings", signaled or other wise, so I'm wondering; What does everbody else do?

you can run two tracks accross each other. its just that by default the signals will not detect if another train is crossing your path. To "fix" this download the rule off the DLS.

I can't recall exactly what the rule's name is but try searching for:
crossover
diamond
crossing
and as a last resort: signal

I found the rule allright. And I'm working on that. But I'm supposed to have 4 signals on a crossing (I guess it's for a 2-way track), but the signals I usually use will not allow for being put in opposite directions. I'm chewing on that one at the moment.

Jytte,

There are several good threads that discuss Diamond Crossings. Just search for Diamond Crossing.

I have many on my railroad. So far, they all work, I think.

Thanks again Dap. I finally found the info I was looking for. The explanations were exactly the way I did it.

Unfortunately I think the reason why it's not working for me is that I do not have 2 "intact" tracks crossing. I had to "cheat" and make "one track" out of 2 tracks in opposite direction (hope this makes sense). And the reason for me trying this way, is because I can NOT place the 2 opposing signals on the same track. This has been driving me nuts too when signaling a single track line (2 way), I have to rip the tracks and lay new ones in opposite direction all the time to get the signals in. (I am using the regular built-in "signal USA 04" I believe it is).

So my big question is: where on earth do you find a signal that you can actually place on opposite side of the crossing????? (And I'm searching for an answer to that puzzle as well)

Just put a signal where you want it and then click on the Rotate button then click on the signal and it goes to the other side of the track facing the other way.

Geeeeeze (and I'm banging my head on the desk)!
Why didn't I think of trying that?

You saved my day!! I'll go right back to my diamond crossing again and try that. Thanks so much!

Dap beat me to giving you the signal rotation solution. We've all had those moments when we have a small mental hiccup. Best of luck to you.

And boy do I feel stupid when I do that :o

And very grateful for people who keep their "geewizz" back, and just point me gently in the right direction :hehe:

Thanks all.

Don't be so hard on yourself, Jytte. This happens to me all the time, and is one of the bad parts of "getting old". When it happens if you're young, just think that you're just practicing for when you get old enough to make it a common problem. It's not so bad then. :)

Thanks John, I take it in stride.
At 54 I think I'm entitled to file these things under "senior moment" :hehe:
