NKP "Fast" Freight

Hello, all. Chris here.

I finally got TS12 running right after some DB updates and am finally getting to play with my new Nickel Plate Road DLC. So I made a small "Screenshot Session", as i call it, on Neil Smith's UMR-2013-Summer route, to try out my new toy. My train consisted of the locomtive, tender, 14 boxcars and a caboose, driving on a 0% gradient with no rain or snow. However, upon starting with full water and coal, with the boiler at around 200psi, the loco would not move any faster than two (2) miles per hour. Even with sand, the train would not speed up. I even uncoupled the boxcars and caboose, but to no avail. Am I doing something wrong?

Sincerely,

Are you running in cab mode or DCC?

I'm not sure this is relevant to your issue of having problems getting the train up to speed but I wanted to post my thoughts on an issue with this loco and am not sure where else to put it. I'm quite new to the forum and cannot find where to post a new topic or thread. I hope that is ok:

I have the NKP and it is utterly beautiful - photo-real, highly articulated right down to chains swaying on the tender. There is, however, one MAJOR issue (that from what I've read exists with many steam locos in Trainz) -- the exceptionally LOUD hissing of steam releasing. It is almost incessant!

I've read numerous posts on this forum from people who, like myself, are aggravated and frustrated that rather than implementing what should be a very easy volume fix (a simple config. adjustment of volume value or a slider in-game), the devs are saying that in the real world, release of steam is quite loud....but, as many others have pointed out - to no avail - they are interested in the nostalgia and beauty of this exceptional steam engine but the constant, blaring hiss, basically ruins the experience.

It's one thing to be a "purist" about the physics, etc., but many people who paid for the locomotive are rightfully frustrated at the overly loud hissing, and are also frustrated that the devs apparently will do nothing other than post long excuses as to why they won't make a simple volume change that would definitely improve the experience.

I sincerely hope the devs will make the often-requested changes to the volume. IF anyone reading this has a "fix" for this problem, please post and let us know. Thank you!

Chris, sorry if this sounds obvious but just in case, can you check if there are any handbrakes on the NKP freight cars and caboose? Also, train+loco brakes are off and cutoff full forward.

It seems you're not alone on this..
