Nightmode Glitches

Having problems with nightmode.. :(
When i create an item which uses nightmode, the textures always show up as the nightmode versions, until i change the time from day to night atleast 10 times, and then when I close the game or go to drive mode they go back to how they were.. Sometimes the textures flash rapidly between day and nightmode. Anyone know what to do?
 
When you got from day or night (or vice versa) it can take up to 30 seconds before the proper effect kicks in. In actual game operation, the switch would not be so sudden.

If you're getting flickering, make sure you don't have auto-create 1 set for the nightmode object. Ideally, you would have a totally different mesh for nightmode and simply overlay that on the normal object. If you can't do that i.e. you're reskinning somebody else's mesh, using an alpha-map to make all non-essential parts of the night mesh transparent can help.
 
Whenever effects like night mode are not working correctly, the first thing I do is find a similar object (either one of my own or someone else's) which does behave correctly and study its config or mesh/textures to see what's different. It's very easy to forget all the little settings and tricks required, so a working example can be very instructive. I can't think of how many times I've done all the hard work to create a nightmode mesh only to forget the nightmode tag (you know, the one that says "constant", "home", "lamp" or "car")... And of course there's always the Wiki. :o
 
Aha I know what you mean I'm forever looking at all my old content to find out how I did it, I still cant remember how I did the animation one Im gonna have to read it all again now lol :)
