Newbie surveyor wrestling with item versions

Hi there good peoples of the Trainz forum! I have something that I could use a little advice with.

I recently bought Trainz over Steam(I know, I know) and was kind of blown away by this game without expecting it. Now, I'm reading surveyor guides and such and getting to grips with the Surveyor because I'd like to create some content for friends and possibly even for strangers if I become competent enough. The game is patched as far as Steam will let it(61297, Auran mod assured me it'd work with the 388 people in MP tho), but there is still content out of date, about 300 items worth. Here's where I hit a dilemma:

I want my first creation(s) to be accessible for people with the base game that aren't able to get a First Class Ticket to download all those updates, so using built-in things. At the same time, to access someone else's content my game has updated some built-in items to a more recent version, and though I tried to disable the updated versions of the item, it refuses to then use the obsolete-declared version. In other words, once built-in items are updated I can't revert to the earlier obsolete built-in version and it'll force anyone using my creations to update their things too, which kinda defeats the point of a no-need-to-download-dependencies thing.

I could just uninstall everything and reinstall the game, but I was wondering if there was some other way to remedy this? In short, I'm trying to revert to a built-in(and obsolete) item after it has been updated.

Hopefully I didn't put this overly confusing, thanks for reading and I hope someone can help. Also, yay my first post!

Good Morning KimmyNL
Irrespective of the version you have installed when you create a route, the multiplayer system will always require that you have the latest version of an asset from the Download Station. This is to ensure that all players have the same version of the content installed.

For non multiplayer routes and sessions, it will simply require the version that was installed when the route or session was created. We do, however, recommend using the latest versions of assets; often this fixes issues that may have come up with the assets after release, or may add new features or other improvements.

If you do need to delete an update, you can do this by going into Content Manager and locating the asset (you'll need to play around with a few different filters to find them), and then left clicking on the asset, then right click and click on 'delete'.
