Newbie Questions/Problems...

Hi folks!
I just purchased Trainz 2012 yesterday via Amazon download and have applied two patches that were available. I have run in to some issues that I can't seem to resolve or find info on.

First, the built in browser wouldn't let me connect to paypal to complete the purchase of a 1st class ticket. I went to their site using my regular browser (IE) and proceeded to checkout again but instead of directing me to paypal, it brought me to a page where I was asked to enter credit card info. I sent a help ticket on this issue since I wasn't able to complete the transaction (again) and it is now pending payment on my account. This doesn't impress me much from the start - you would think that if anything worked, their ability to take your money would!

In game issues:
The cab throttles (the ones on the dash - not the slider controls on the bottom right) don't seem to work right in most cases. For example I can use the slider controls and get throttle up to 32 but with the in-cab controls, it only goes up to 8. Another only decreases throttle and won't increase it - this one looks like 1/2 of a steering wheel in the cab.

Its probably obvious to you already that I don't know much about Trainz or any kind of trains for that matter. Whatever the reasons for my problems, I sure would appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Fillo,

Welcome to the forums.

In terms of the payment issue, there is a tickbox on the page when filling in personal/payment details for payment using Paypal. Make sure this is ticked if you wish to use Paypal.

I cannot help much on the other issue without knowing which locomotive is being referred to.

I decided years ago not to use the cab contols. Depending on what you are driving, You may have to lower the camera below the window to see the controls and, as I like to see where I,m going I use the keyboard instead. As for the slider control at the bottom right of the screen, that never appealed to me either and as I am comfortable using the keyboard I,ll stick with that. Diesel Locomotives throttle up to notch 8, Electric Locomotives throttle up to notch 32. HST,s are also notch 32

Shane, I did check the paypal box and accepted the terms. The next page that followed required credit card info.

The locomotive that has the half wheel type control is the one in the Balezino - Mosti route that comes with Trainz 2012. The slider works to increase/decrease throttle but the wheel will only decrease it. I'll have to look for the other loco that would only go up to 8 via the cab lever by trying the different routes again.

Thanks for your reply!

Many of the locos, on the cab display, 8 is the max.

Colourlight, I agree - the slider is too touchy and its hard to do fine adjustments. I like the realism of using the actual levers though, that's one of the things that attracted me to this product. What you said about the Diesel vs Electric might help shed light on one of my issues. The one locomotive only throttles up to 8 using the lever but the slider throttles to 32 - perhaps there was a mistake where they put the wrong slider script in. Using the lever up to 8 does not provide 100% power btw - I had to use the slider to increase speed.
