Sorry for this newbie question guys, but it is normal for a train to be driven backwards? For example, you want train "A" to go and pick up some goods in a given factory. So you issue the corresponding instruction in the bottom panel. But the train goes backwards during all the way. Is this normal in the "real" world?

On the Boston MBTA, trains drive forwards east and south, but backwards north and west, and for 30 to 40 miles.

Depends upon the factory and the way tracks are laid out. Now my question is, is the route a loop/is there more than one way to get to the factory? Trainz AI takes the quickest/less restricted route to the factory. So if the train is driving in reverse on the mainline 20 miles from the yard to the factory, then not really. However in some cases, it is not uncommon to see a locomotive in a style they like to call "Long hood forwards". If you're just backing in and out of spurs, then that is pretty realistic. I see that all the time.

Thanks for your info guys. It is the only way to get to the factory from where the train is. So I guess it will have to travel backwards :D

Is that OK with reality?

dash56: Just so you know there is a change direction command..Once you have given A1 the Factory or Warehouse Command, let engine start then contrl+right click on the Engine and it should pop up

Thanks a lot Bob!!! Nice tip. Worked perfectly. Didn't know what that command was for...

Is there any guide about all the meanings of the available commands?

Thanks again and best regards,

Francisco
